Guest guest
You know what might be your problem?? BAD oils (not good pure olive oil and the like) and butter (even though I love the stuff) has a high cholesterol count. Love JK IMPORTANT!! HELP! ESCALATING CHOLESTEROL LEVELS!! Merrill: This was exactly my concern when I went on this program. All this meat and the eggs, and the fat. But, I rationalized being an O and eating this way would " balance out " . Apparently not. At least, not in your case, and maybe not in mine, if I were to be tested. The dramatic change in your cholesterol stats is pretty scary. This week I ate a lot of lamb burgers, which are very GREASEY. When I look at the pan, I think " good grief, I'm ingesting all this fat " . I'm still not sure about the safety of all this. But, since I'm NO expert - - feedback from would be good. Axel or M even better - because they are Os. Please help!! Guest guest
It is recommended that, to control cholesterol, fat should be no more than 30% of daily calorie, 10% should be from saturated fat. Since you are following ER plan, I'm assuming that your fat intake is around 20%. >>> Do you actually calculate your protein, carbs & fat intake or do you approximate? Some kinds of fats are better than others. Polyunsaturated and monounsaturated fats are better than saturated fats. Monounsaturated fats is the kind found in olive oil. Polyunsaturated fats are found in fish and some vegetable oils. Saturated fat raises your blood cholesterol because it makes it hard for the body to clear the cholesterol away. Saturated fat is found in different amounts in almost all foods. Butter, some oils, meat, and poultry fat contain a lot of saturated fat. >>> What kinds of fat does your diet contain? Do you eat fish or beef? If beef, do you choose only the leanest cuts? Eggs? Butter? Olive oil? Can you eat more fish and less beef? What about using more neutrals like chicken in your diet to see if that reduces your cholesterol? >>>It is possible that your cholesterol levels have nothing to do with your diet. Cholesterol is a naturally occurring fatty substance in the body. Most of the cholesterol in your blood is made by your liver from the fats, carbohydrates, and proteins you eat. >>>I didn't see flax in your diet. Flax has been recommended to reduce cholesterol levels. I would probably replace the cod liver oil with ground flax seed myself.
