Guest guest
Dear Hilda, I thought that said that whole flax seeds were to be used for those that have a problem being regular, I put a tsp. on my tongue first thing in the morning and then drink water until it goes down. I was taking Psyllium but it is an avoid for Os so I switched and this has helped me so far. For any other reason, it should be ground or soaked. It may go thru " as is " but as long as it moves everything thru, I am a happy camper, if you get my drift> Hugs from a Light-House-Keeper finally in Pennsylvania (Anyone can clean the house, only you can catch up on your rest) Michele E. Apparently it has a resistance to digestive acids and are mostly eliminated from the body undigested, hence no benefits at all. It has to be grounded for the body to get to the good stuff. Any comment on this?
Guest guest
Hi Hilda, If I have this understood right, ground is for nutrition, while whole seeds are for constipation. > BlankMy dietician told me not to consume whole flax seeds. Guest guest
Although whole flax seed may do the trick re regularity, I have read that rough fibers can irritate the intestinal lining - don't know if that is true. You certainly miss the benefits of ground flax. My ND tells me that if i am consuming adequate green veggies that one should be regular and i find this to be true. Only time I have a problem is when on a trip and i cannot get enough veggies. Then a Greens drink will gi ve me the chlorophyll that keeps things going well. Actually I will go to a grocery and get veggies and have even eaten zucchini raw when in Belgium one trip. And then there are prunes - I don't use but lots do, also dried apricots - not sure if these are OK for us? Guest guest
Hmmmm: THAT is interesting to me, because when I took WHOLE F-seeds, nothing happened. So maybe they are just eliminated undigested in SOME people's systems.. > karen > > > BlankMy dietician told me not to consume whole flax seeds. Guest guest
Hi Lowell; What greens drinks? Can you give brand names and drink names? That would be helpful to me. As for those interested in flax seeds for constipation there are some tasty flax seed bars made by Govinda's www.govindabars.com They will keep you Reg-U-Lar!!! I had to stop eating them b/c it was a bit much. THey also make a great Walnut bar-- (Walnuts, dates, Honey, puffed amaranth, Sea Salt) which is part of my daily routine. I get them at a local health food store. Guest guest
Hi, You have to be careful of greens drinks because the more ingredients they have in them the more potential for sensitivity problems. Start with the simplest - one of the grasses - i have one from my ND that agrees but do not need it often. I am not big on Health food stores so rely on my ND for recommendations and also a natural pharmacy here. I live in Canada so the products are probably different. Also our tolerances are very individual. Ann
Guest guest
Yes - for " cleaning the house " drinking it whole will give you " benefits " . For all others - yes, grind it.
