Guest guest
, I have been taking it for 5 years now (although I have it down to a very low dose-50mg every 3rd night). I was amazed to read of the change for you. I have been hoping that after I have my colon hydrotherapy (5 I think) & a total juice fast at the same time in the New Year then I'll be in the same position. Thanks for the information you have given me much more hope!! I detest taking anything (don't take anything else & haven't for a fair few years now, I am basically anti-medication for myself & children (except for the zoloft). Congratulations!! Thanks again Leah >From: " Beckwith " <Beckwith87@...> >Reply-candidiasis ><candidiasis > >Subject: Re: SSRI - Research . Guest guest
, Just thought of more questions. Did you just stop dead or did you slowly cut back? Also when I tried to stop in the past I was not able to focus my eyes, my head spun & I sweated like a pig (sorry not a good description . Did you have any of these symptoms after stopping? And have you found that your bowels work a lot better. I find that the Zoloft always has made me constipated but as I also have IBS it gets a bit confusing. Thanks for any info. I am thinking so much more positive about stopping them now after reading your post! Leah >From: " Leah " <leahsparadise@...> >Reply-candidiasis >candidiasis >Subject: Re: SSRI - Research . Guest guest
You know, I ran out of my 5-HTP, and it only took two days for the depression to come back. I have to have my local store special order it, so now I am stuck feeling lousy for a while. I also noticed my sleep was affected within a week. I am definitely going to take precautions to not run out again! Hanida
Guest guest
Thanks. I'll stick to my 5-htp, tyrosine, other aminos and the omega oils to keep my depression at bay! BTW, I ran out of my 5-htp, and I felt depression coming on again within a week so I'm going to get some more. Forget the doctors. Guest guest
Leah, I just stopped cold turkey but I didn't have any bad affects of either. Maybe you should see a nutritionist or a knowledgeable heal food store worker. That's strange. My doctor put me on Paxil the beginning of the year. Boy that stuff is BAD NEWS! I was a zombie for 2 weeks straight and still after several months of taking the stuff I had weird vision and was so un-allert I could hardly work at all! So I quit that! in CA
Guest guest
5-HTP is a seratonin stabilizer. it works with your brain to help balance the hormone seratonin. low seratonin is responsible for depression, poor and restless sleeping, and overeating. believe it or not it is a seratonin imbalance that many overweight people, like me, have. Basically we never get the signal from our brain that tells us we are full. after being on high doses of 5-htp for two weeks, I noticed I could stop eating when I was full, slept better, and was not as depressed. It has really helped me a lot. Hanida
Guest guest
I agree Hanida. The difference that the 5-htp, glutamine and tryrosine make is amazing. Even more than my Omega oils that are supposed to help with that. > You know, I ran out of my 5-HTP, and it only took two days for the depression > to come back. Have you tried a saline nasal spray? Guest guest
Hi April, Yes you can buy it at Whole foods. It will be expensive though. The cheapest brand I have found is Natrol. <A HREF= " www.natrol.com " >www.natrol.com</A>. I am not sure if you can buy off the website, but if not it will direct you to a retailer in your area. Let me know if you want any more information on this. Hanida
Guest guest
, Thankyou for letting me know of your experience with it. I will be consulting with the Naturopath at the beggining of next year. Hopefully he can throw some light on it & also have the same success as yourself!! Remind me never to try Paxil, it sounds horrible. Take care Leah >From: " Beckwith " <Beckwith87@...> >Reply-candidiasis ><candidiasis > >Subject: Re: SSRI - Research . It really turns you into a ZOMBIE, so I guess that's how they keep you from being depressed, your TOO DRUGGED to worry about anything! Very weird and what it does to your vision is scary. Guest guest
I lost weight while on 5-htp, because I felt like I had no appetite... and I was so full of energy and vitality. Guest guest
You can get it at the health food store. There's also a great book all about 5-htp. I no longer have it, and I'm unsure of the title..... It shares all the many benefits of 5-htp, including appetite suppression. >Hi, >I'm another " lurker, " reading posts every so often. Guest guest
Welcome . There are several things that you can use, depending on your body and the extent of your problem. First and foremost, cut sugar and carbs out of you diet. Basically, you'll want to eat protein and green veggies. As for supplements and medications, what seems to have been working for most people these days is either: Colloidal Silver, MSM and Oil of Oregano SF 722 Biotin Twin Labs Yeast Fighters Some excellent probiotics. Some people do well with those with FOS, others do better with straight acidophilous. I'm sure that I've missed many good protocols, but a quick search through the archives should help you. There are a couple of lists on here about what has helped people and what has NOT helped people, as well as some information about good dietary supplementation. > > You know, I ran out of my 5-HTP, and it only took two days for the > depression > > to come back.
