Tree, My heart goes out to you. These DAMN DR's think they can do what ever

they want for their convenience. I think I would call the emergency number,

WHY should you wait on pins and needles all week end for an answer??? If

there is an answering service number call it and keep calling till you get an

answer. That is your right as a patient. This DR. has to know your anxiety

over this especially since your husband has Hep-C.

You are really in A PREDICAMENT. Imagine you waited a whole year and then

you finally go and get the tests done and then THEY do this to you. I am

here for you anytime you want to ~~ SCREAM AND YELL~~ CRY ~~ WHATEVER OK

Oh, Tree. How awful of him to leave you hanging over the weekend! Does

their message give an on-call number or anything like that? This is worth

chasing him down over. He's screwing up your weekend, you can interrupt

his. The more I think of it, the angrier I get for you -- the nurse knew

how stressed you were about having the test. This is so rude.

Try not to panic. I know that won't be easy, but

maybe the news isn't bad. Maybe he's just going to

recommend that you practice safe sex, or that you not

share hubby's toothbrush or razor. If you need to

talk you can email me privately, or just talk to the

group. We will all do our best to help you through

the weekend.

Thanks so much for your messages of support. My first reaction was to do

just that--even call his house if I had to! But then I thought about it. The

answer is what it is, and I can't change the outcome by knowing this minute.

If I have it, I've probably had it a long time.

It's my turn to host Easter dinner, so I'll be busy this weekend and

hopefully won't dwell on it. Thanks again for being there. I haven't told

anyone else I had the tests.

Try to keep a positive outlook as hard as it is to do. I too am hosting the

This sounds like the right answer to me. I am so glad so many people are here

Tree, more than likely the news is good. If he's sending a post card, it

probably means the test came back negative. His recommendations are probably

going to be suggestions for you and the hubby to be safe and not share

personal hygiene products.

Positive thinking will get you through the weekend, and you are right, there

is noting you would do differently if you knew you had it, so go enjoy your

weekend.

So sorry to hear what " THEY " have done to you.....

I am so tired of this kind of thing. We are with you and probably it is

just reminding you to do certain things.

The inconsideration of the medical profession for the very people it is

supposed to serve is unreal...

We are here to listen and help you " make it through the night.... "

You might want to consider using any mergency number you might have to

get an answer NOW..... I don't usually do that, but many people

would. Can't tell you how many three or four day weekends I have spent

waiting because of a call like that. It is off THEIR minds now.....

Whatever you decide, try to have a decent weekend.....

That is outrageous conduct on the part of the doctor, Tree. Please call

his office, tell them it's an emergency, and have them run him down!!!

Having worked in a private practice Dr.'s office and in a clinic it may not

be bad news. It could just be the that office's procedure on how they handle

test results. I know the office I worked in wouldn't leave test results with

voice-mail or answering machines regardless of whether it was good news or

not simply because someone else could get the message and that is a big no

no for medical office procedure. So keep your thoughts positive it may be

good news! And the rest of it may well be what someone else said, his

recommendation of safe sex or getting a blood test on a regular basis, etc.

One more thing occurs to me. Never would any of the offices I worked in mail

bad test results on something like this. You would get the message, if the

results were bad, from a person. I actually think yours are going to be

good!!!

Originally, I used a Home HealthCare test, and I took 2 of them. My family, 2

daughters, and DH also used the same test.

I recieved both of my results from a human. (positive)

and the 3 of them (all negative) all recieved their results, from a machine.

Hang loose Tree. It may just be something else and even so its not the end

of the world. I always look at the worst case senario and realize-hey thats

not so bad and then I'm pleasantly surprised if it is better.

Hi everybody! Remarkably, I have been unable to connect with my doctor until

TODAY! (recall he left a voicemail Fri p.m. that he had my lab results and

would mail them along with his recommendations). I came very close to

crashing his office and pulling a " Shirley McLain " (hospital scene from Terms

of Endearment).

I tested NEGATIVE! I told him his " recommendations " remark, in my mind,

alluded to some irregularities. Know what his " recommendations " were?--get

tested yearly. Good grief. I was so relieved that I didn't give him the

piece of my mind I had rehearsed. My husband's results, however, were still

" off the chart, " even though the CT scan detected no liver inflammation. He

also said the latest material he's receiving reports more positive results

from interferon--including reversing cirrhosis in some cases! He recommended

my husband reconsider treatment.

Well, thanks for your support when I needed it. This does tell me that it is

VERY difficult to transmit the virus sexually or living together. I know

that during the past 25 years, I have used my husband's razors, and we have

probably even accidentally swapped toothbrushes. Hope those of you who

decide to be tested have the same outcome.

I am so happy for you :) :) Sorry to hear about Hubby though. Goes

to show you that some Doc's are real heartless people. He could have made a

point to call you since he wasn't in yesterday. Anyway good to know that

people together for a lot of years seem to be OK. Guess in time I will get

mine done too. When Hubby is finished with some of his tests. He was put on

Zoloft yesterday 50mgs. Once again I am glad your results were negative. Take

Irish: Zoloft did not work well for my husband (of course everyone reacts

differently), but Prozac is doing the trick for him. How is your husband

doing?

Hi, well he is so-so. DR started him on Zoloft yesterday 50mgs for 42 days.

Then he goes back and we will see. Last night was bad he was sick to his

stomach. Tonight he took the pill differently so maybe that will help. He

goes for Cat scan on May 3rd and then 2 weeks after that blood work again and

then to DR for the results. This waiting is really the hard part. DR said it

will either be Zoloft or prozac so if one doesn't work the other should

according to her. Not to many out there that are compatible with all his meds

and liver friendly. Take Care, Irish

I am so happy for you!!!!! That is great news.

I was telling someone about the pain you had to suffer by waiting

through the weekend, and as I told her, I was more sure than ever that

the news would be good.

I am so very happy that your test results turned out

good for you. I'm sorry you had to endure such a

stressful weekend in order to receive the good news.

I'm sure it was very difficult.

Hopefully your courage will be an inspiration to other

spouses who have been too afraid to get tested.
