I know for my 3 CMT kids they couldn't walk on their tip toes without bending

their knees. That was the tell tell sign. They were all past 4 when this

occurred. It does my heart good to see my last child age 6 tip toe on a wet

floor or hot side walk.

Hi Mom,

I had the same question about my son Adam when he was little. I

wondered if the CMT had changed types from me to him. I was told it did not

morph into other types but it can reduplicate its self. The severity of the CMT

if I understood it correctly depends on how many duplications of the gene. With

Adam he would have more duplications because his CMT is more active. My daughter

would have less.

Um, I'm not a geneticist but that doesn't sound right

to me. You can only have one duplication of the PMP22

gene (i.e. CMT1A) unless both parents have CMT...then,

I guess you could have two duplications -- one from

the

father and one from the mother.

So basically you have one code that works and one that

doesn't. It depends on how confused your body gets

(and lots of other factors) as to how poorly it

translates the bad code.

I could be completely off here...

Ok I must have totally misunderstood the person at Childrens. Just forget

what I said. I was in some kind of shock when they were talking to me . LOL
