I developed footdrop 6 yrs ago, tried AFOs;didn't work. Go to

www.stabheilizer.com; this man's braces are the best. Lightweight, fit

around the ankle, attach to any pair of shoes. I've worn them 3 yrs and

they eliminated footdrop falls.

Kathy,

a few years ago there was a lot of talk about foot drop on the MGH

site. many tried this and found it worked great. there is only one

thing to remember is not to wear all the time because it'l weaken your

ankle with time. but you could use it when you go outside.

It's used by sprinters to improve their speed

>I agree with . I also have foot drop and have just ordered an AFO foot orthosis (ankle foot orthosis). They help you walk without tripping. I am having mine custom made here is Canada and it is costing me $850.00 Canadian dollars (approximately $725.00 US dollars). My cost is covered 80% by my husband's extended medical benefit package at work. They took a cast of my leg so it will fit well.

Anytime I've had surgery with my MS being chronic progressive once the nerves are cut the nerves never re-attach. You could cause permanent damage to the already affected nerves by having surgery. You need physical therapy to the foot and leg. Pool therapy along with other therapies would be best if possible.
