Jolene, you shouldn't have any problems with your legs, but you might not feel

steady so I'd get a chair for the shower. Also, the bigger problem for most is

lifting your arms above your head. Showering without help will be tough in the

beginning, especially washing your hair. You might want to think about who might

be available to help you.

Showering after long fusion

Dear group,

Once pre-op will it be possible to lift my legs up high enough to get into

the shower/tub combi to shower after long fusion? Or is it possible to

somehow

use a transfer board to get over the tub rim? Jolene

Hi Jolene!

I was able to step over the tub to sit on a little chair for showering. The

MOST important thing was having a shower head on a long tube or, as they

say, hand-held shower head. That made all the difference.

I don't know why, but I did not have any trouble getting my hands over

my head. I just did it very gingerly.

I had a long fusion and revision surgery and never had any trouble getting

my hands over my head to wash my hair in the shower.
