Guest guest
I posted this for a similar question on another forum. Let me know if you have questions. Limitations - This answer will change depending on how many and which vertebrae are fused. For example, with the fusion in the middle of your spine (in the thoracic area), you probably won't notice it too much. I've found that fusion of L4-S1, on the other hand, makes it really hard to bend backward. In any case, you may or may not be able to bend the way you're used to. You'll notice your lack of bending when you try to get in and out of a car. You also won't be allowed to sky dive, ski, ride horses, and lift over 40 lbs. Some scoliosis specialists change this list slightly, but you get the idea. Pros o Pain is less, if not gone altogether. o Body looks better. o May (or may not) gain some height when curve is straightened. o Quality of life is much better. o Can get on with life instead of always thinking about your back. o Can run, jump rope, carry your child on your shoulders, etc. o You aren't tired from the effort it takes just to do minimal things. Cons o Lack of flexibility. This may not be noticable, though. o Discs may (or may not) degenerate above and below the fusion. o Shouldn't be a problem with todays instrumentation, but people with Harrington rods will most likely develop " flatback " . This happens occasionally to patients with Luque rods if the rods aren't put in correctly. (Harrington rods aren't used in the US anymore.) o Some limitations on what you can do after you're through recovering. You probably won't do some of these anyway. o The older you are, in general, the longer it takes to recover. At age 18, you should recover quicker. In any case, plan on a long recovery period. It still takes two months to be doing basic things. You'll be cleared to do more things at six months. At one year, you'll be able to do about anything you could do before the surgery. Take it easy. This is major surgery. It takes a while for the spine to fuse. > > hello > > I am Anu, a new mwmber from India. My age is 34. Guest guest
Lana, The Cobb angle (http://www.e-radiography.net/radpath/c/cobbs- angle.htm)is a measurement used for evaluation of scoliosis curves. An x-ray is taken and then the doctor will use a protractor and draw out a few lines which results in the number of degrees that our curves measure. > > From: krishnag999 <krishnag999@...> > Subject: My Case > Scoliosis Treatment > Date: Friday, February 6, 2009, 4:20 AM > > hello > > I am Anu, a new mwmber from India. My age is 34. Guest guest
Hi , Order Vermox from freedom pharmacy and take every 5-7 days so your blood will kill the beasts when they bit. Soaking (and I submerge with a straw) in Arm and Hammer super soda wash will kill them and pull them out of your skin. Then taking a bath in 3 large table spoons of olive leaf powder (Starwest Botanicals) will render the skin so clean, you can rub the critters off and it kills bacteria and fungus. I take a Round-up garden sprayer and attach the cut off end of an ear bulb to the gun and irrigate my ears with 32 ounces of peroxide mixed with 64 ounces of water and 2-3 table spoons of borax and this sends 1000's out of my ears. I drown the ceilings and walls with Bifen, and shampoo the carpets regularly. I vacuum the car and spray or wash down with Bifen and leave it over the weekend. I boil my underwear and soaks and wash everything well. Don't give up. We've all reached the suicidal point but made it past and things do get better. I just realized (after the fungus/bacteria and collembola was removed, and am now on acylovir for skin outbreak of herpes 1) that I really do have mites. I am working hard to get rid of them again and this time for good. Took a weeks to 10 days after I realized, so must get back with you on if I can manage to finish with them. Love and light, From: <hazelpoet@...>Subject: My Casebird mites Date: Tuesday, March 8, 2011, 6:35 PM This is my first post. I am on my last leg. Can barely stand this anymore. Been reading your posts and doing much research on the web, but I cannot get a sample from which I am suffering, so I still do not know what my family is dealing with. Have had two different places where house sparrows nested under our eaves. Removed them, then made the mistake of spraying permethrin in attic and in home [did nothing, which I later learned would be the case on birdmites.org]. Also, have had raccoons in the attic the past couple years, with one there at this very moment that we cannot get trapped. We have attempted to gain samples of these things but with just a mere magnifying glass we cannot tell what we have. I see them floating on the surface of my coffee and when I soak in the tub. From comparisons to pictures on the web I surmise they are D. Gallinae. We see no red mites though. No black specks. They appear to be clear. Please can someone give advice on getting a sample to send off? They affect my mom and I day and night. Mostly at night. My dad, on the other hand, not at all. Then again, I probably would have gotten them anyways from visiting this damned place. I also have an infected tooth in my upper jaw. Perhaps this makes me a target for these things? With no insurance I cannot take care of this infection. Ordered neem [Himalaya brand] from India which I am taking in along with MSM. Here is a list of what we have tried: wiping the walls with vinegar and ammonia, borax on the carpet, vacuuming every other day, windex with ammonia-d on everything, epsom salt baths, tea tree oil, pure menthol in burners, selenium sulfide shampoo on my dog [who is also affected] and ourselves, plastic mattress covers, bounce dryer sheets, sulfur 8, vicks, avon skin so soft oil, and last but not least Onslaught and Nylar [just this week]. That is about it I think. At first, they bit or stung all the time. Lately, it's more of a crawling thing. Not entirely, though. I can see them in my eyes sometimes. At times what looks like eggs, other times moving mite-like creatures. At this moment I feel them crawling around my eyebrows. Sometimes I feel a sting or bite on my eyeball, in my nose, and in my ear. It seems that early on this did not happen. Mainly it was my legs or waist area. Please help me, I have become terribly suicidal. I need to be strong for my family. We are going through tough times. Not just this infestation. Guest guest
When did this all begin for you ? In my experience with all that you are doing over time they start to diminish, but it does take a long time. We had mites fully infest the house 3 years ago almost exactly. For one year we were totally out of commission socially, working day and night to get rid of these. Some people cannot get rid of these without 1) getting rid of all rugs and carpets, and 2) perhaps getting rid of your pet. I hate to say it and I know others will disagree, but I think having a pet with mites makes it doubly difficult to get rid of with all the things you are doing. It sounds like you are not working an outside job. If that is the case, if you are well enough, start taking a steam iron on hot to your clothing, particularly waist bands, but all the seams. My husband's jeans went into the oven carefully at 150 degrees for 2 hours and that helped. Change sheets daily; take baths with essential oils like Eucalyptus and tea tree oil, AND Borax. Some people add hydrogen peroxide to the bath too, or epson salt. Stay in the bath as long as you can tolerate. Keep your hair cut short. Try to bath or shower when mites are active during their cycle (afternoons through 6 am). It is my belief that there is no magic bullet with D. Gallinae - so it is a matter of attrition with these horrible things. Ask any of us here who have been through this and it takes a long time to get rid of, but it can be done. I have been an advocate of using a steam press and a few here did buy one too. It is not a magic bullet, but helps a lot with clothing since although Borax, Arm and Hammer and other things work, they are not 100% and for some reason that extra assist of using a steam press kills them in the seams and waist bands where sometimes they can hide out for a long time. Cecilia bought a steam press and I believe sbmom is buying one as well. If you can't do that at least use your steam iron and press what you can, but that takes a lot of effort and steam press is 10x faster. Also hotter. I think healinghope's sugestions are good ones and I'd follow that or Bill's suggestions are good too - I'm most concerned about your not taking up rugs and carpets. We took those all to the dump (as well as all fabric furniture) and had a different vinyl flooring put in downstairs. Upstairs in our house is hardwood. We sprayed floors, walls, ceilings, everything with Windex the entire house and ceilings, used diatomaceous earth on many occasions covering the entire floor and bookcases until we couldn't take it any longer and our lungs were being affected by it. But it helps and things quiet down with DE. I don't know if the particles are small enough to kill these mites, but it seems to slow them down anyway. We now take DE internally and it does help because these mites do carry parasites. DE can help to kill these parasites. You have to work on the environment and the internal environment at the same time obviously. We ended up with Lyme disease from our exposure... not everyone gets this however. Be vigilent about treating your car as well. Vacuum everything as often as you can. I put my vacuum outside and put duct tape over the nozzle. I changed the bag frequently and sprayed down the inside and outside of the vacuum (we have a Kenmore canister type). We are not 100%, but pretty near I believe. We have internal problems, but I bleieve the mites are either nearly gone or gone. All insects seem to carry something now as a result of chemtrails and/or pesticides and herbicides, so everything is morphing quickly. Keep all insects out of the hosue, including all spiders. I bought spider traps and those really help. Marie would say you don't have to get rid of pets or animals and she has done a good job getting her animals well. BUT, you do have to treat them just as often as you do yourself. If they are in and out of the house all the time they could end up re-exposing all of you to mites if they are re-contaminated, so be cautious. There are so many things to think of and various ramifications in all of this, so just do the best you can one day at a time. When you think of new things to try, just do them and see how that goes. We bought a dehumidifier from Ace Hardware and that helped. These things thrive on humidity. I so feel for you and your family (and grandma esp.) and we know exactly what you are going through. Keep posting and just let any suicidal thoughts be only thoughts and let them drift out--feel them, but don't fixate on them because that changes too. Others have been suicidal. I wanted to burn my house down, but could not. There was no place left to turn so we had to just dig in and do the work day in and day out. Don't give up or give in to these feelings... many here have small children that have been infested too and that is probably the worst situation you can imagine in my opinion, but they are not giving up. You are worth the effort to heal. My Case This is my first post. I am on my last leg. Can barely stand this anymore. Guest guest
The best advice I've gotten in 3 years of this hell is this:Vick's COOL MIST vaporizersKeep filled with Hydrogen Peroxide 3%Put a vaporizer on one side of the room, and a dehumidifier on the other. Run all the time, keep lots of the Hydrogen Peroxide on hand. I don't know why, but it really changes my environment. - I am going to pray for you often. IanFrom: Cecilia Borg <ceciliaborg@...>Subject: Re: My Casebird mites Date: Tuesday, March 8, 2011, 1:53 PM Dear !I really feel sorry for you! What a mess!I am not at all an expert on this, have had this for 10 months and many people here are so much more experienced than I am here, so they will probably give better advice.. You have also done a lot already. TO wash all laundry as hot as possible and with 1/2 cup borax and 1/2 cup ammonia (technical) and then steam iron them afterwards take them out of the clothes. LInda here on the site has a good suggestion for a steampress (singer) that is so hot it kills a lot.Spreading kisel (silicium)powder around floor boards and up at the attic made things a bit better for us. Also something called pestene from Australia (a powder) is really good for animals and we have used that indoors as well along the floors to kill them off (that takes fleas and mites). My whole family has been affected as well, but what we know we have not given it to anyone so far. We have not either been able to find a sample, but black specks and dermatologists saying the lesions are bite-reactions.I guess IGR like you have tried lately is so much better than pyrethrins. Pyrethrins didn´t make it better for us either, rather the opposite.I really wish you the best of luch with this and I guess you will get many good ideas from others here.Take care!Cecilia from SwedenFrom: <hazelpoet@...>bird mites Sent: Tue, March 8, 2011 7:35:22 PMSubject: My Case This is my first post. Guest guest
Hazelpoet, I so know what you are going through. Like you, my " mites " have changed their habits too....first only bites on legs, then on waist, now they are biting my chest like crazy and yes, in my eyes. I have been told I am delusional, that I need anti-psychotic meds! I don't know what the answer is but please know I feel your pain and I pray each night for all of us to find relief. My poor three dogs suffer as well, and I try to bathe them as often as possible and keep them on Revolution. I've been told I probably won't get rid of this with animals in the house, but there's no alternative -- they are my family. One thing that has helped me at night is putting vaseline all over my body before going to bed. I feel stingers & bites for first 10 mins (maybe they are smothering?) then it gets quiet. I also take a ibuprofen p.m. every night to help sleep. I shower every night before bed and after shampooing in Denorex, I give my hair a final epsum salt rinse (and don't rinse this out). I go to bed with my hair wet but it has stopped the crawlies on my scalp. I miss my life I had before this all started -- I didn't know how good I had it 'till it was gone. Oh..to have that life back. God bless, Taz > > This is my first post. I am on my last leg. Can barely stand this anymore. Guest guest
I so have to reply has great advice. Many of use from years back including myself would war against this with high hopes of loosing nothing in our homes. Kill this and life goes on; over 5 years later and i am SOOOO glad that have gotten rid of ALL fabric in the house; furniture, bedding, window curtains, closets full of clothes (a deep freezer is my closet now), rugs, and anything that has fabric attached to it offends greatly. I am not %100 but way better than when i tried to fight this with all my stuff that was breeding this stuff bad ( the list i just gave ). I keep body hairs low. i sport a bald head (i'm a guy). This helps alot. I have come to the conclusion that I have to treat my body hair as 'human fabric' and they like all fabric, even 'animal fabric' if you understand what i'm saying. Shower curtains make great window curtains, all my windows have them. I replaced my old wooden desks with hard plastic folding tables from the store. And the best thing i did was throw out that mattress and get an air mattress ( non fabric kind ), from 2hrs of sleep at night and sleeping in the bathtub to having a way better nights sleep is priceless. I even have times where I'd sleep 6-7hrs without waking up. Even though I'm way better, i still have much to do. I would say my house is %65 better then before and my body about %60. I didn't list any thing i did concerning my body internal wise as many here already have great suggestions and its up to each which works better for themselves. Above all PLEASE don't give up or loose hope, I know what you mean - i've had dark nights of the soul but God has always helped me through. I do know that ending my life would be a case way worse then this infestation that i live in. With how things are better now than before makes me glad that I'm alive and look forward to living everyday to victory over this. Try some things, over time if they don't work then make a note of it and try something else. I have a personal 'Rule List' that i must go by to keep this infestation at bay. It applies just to me, just as your list will apply for you. Keep it up, many people here are praying for us and I as well. Please be encouraged. > > > > > > > >  > > > My Case > >  > > > > > This is my first post. We have transmitted them to my grandparents and to my aunt and uncle. They affect my aunt and not my uncle. On top of this torment we have guilt now. I am 30 years old and suffered a traumatic brain injury a few years ago. Was in a coma and came out of it and climbed back into life again. Since then my parents took me in and helped me regain myself. I just regret not getting out of here before this hell became my reality. My grandmother has Dementia and is going downhill fast, my brother is on the run from the cops and won't answer his phone, my dad just lost his job of twenty years, and on top of all that, THIS! We feel cursed and I am becoming hopeless. >
