Guest guest
Hi Christy! Welcome to the list. You will find a great source of comfort as well as information that will help you make decisions for your baby and also the support you need to defend those decisions. You are not alone. Many of us on this list have children who have had to one degree or another reactions to immunizations. So never feel guilty. You did the best you knew at the time and now you know more! That is what mothering is all about. You are doing the right thing by searching for information and knowledge. Try to stay sane during your move. We moved about 900 miles 18 months ago with six kids and it was a fat calorie burning experience!!!!! Hang in there. Alice Clinton
Guest guest
Welcome to the list Christy! For being a fairly young new mother you have a lot to be proud of yourself about. Your insticts were telling you to stop and do research and now you are more educated about this very controversial, heated issue. I hope your baby will fully recover and it sounds as if your decision to stop vaccinating your daughter could quite literally save her life. I hope you find this list helpful, I know I have. There are resources for standing by your decision and having it respected, without necessarily having to remove our children from society. I hope your move goes well and look forward to having you back. Sherri
Guest guest
welcome to the list christy! you're sure to get the support and information you need in order to make an informed decision, not one that derived from being bullied by the all-knowing medical trade whose first aim is to get their accounts to balance at the end of each month. with regard to school: unless you live in wv or ms, there will be at least a religious exemption if not a philosophical one. and don't let school secretaries bully you as to what is acceptable. if in doubt, phone the department of health in your county and they are normally more sensible than school staff (that's my experience!). have you tried homeopathic treatment and/or chiropractic for britanny? homeopathy can help reverse the effects of vaccs and is generally a much safer way to treat dis-ease than conventional medicine. if you like to know more, you can e-mail me. in any case, you are at the right place to get plenty of information and education! love and light claudia --- Christy Summers <bb_brittany@...> wrote: > Hi all. Guest guest
Congrats on the baby. Hope everything is easier for you now that you and hubby are the same type. I have 4 different types in my family....urgh! Honest to say that none of us in this family, eat the right the stuff all the time...just too hard to make so many different foods, and not take from the other type's food. While you were on a low carb diet, you were probably eating other avoids that made you gain weight. I should also mention that there are tons of recipes in the above folder, that the food lists are basic, and that you can find THE MOST UPDATED FOOD LISTS in the new book LIVE RIGHT 4 YOUR TYPE which came out this past Christmas. Be forewarned that for a newbie, the new book might be a little technical and overwhelming. I suggest getting through the first one and getting a good start on the basic diet as outlined in ER before coping with some of the fine line changes mentioned in LR. All of the recipes in the folder are done according to the original ER book. I have been on this diet for 3 years and will never go back...my kids have been on it since birth and are basically never sick (9 mo girl and 3 yo girl)...after you read the info in the file you will find out why I am a believer. The recipes and cooking tips in this folder can be used by anyone, not just those on the diet, and are also good for those with food allergies (this is covered in HOW TO USE THIS FOLDER.txt) For further information consult the books: EAT RIGHT 4 YOUR TYPE and COOK RIGHT 4 YOUR TYPE by Dr. J. Guest guest
Hello everyone and Selina welcome to ER! After a long journey I am back in Austin. I did a detoxification fast that worked wonders (only water for 5 days and 8 days of a liquid diet of lemonade with maple syrup and cayenne pepper, plus bentonite and the avoid psyllium). It was amazing to notice the increment of energy and the clarity of thought. I also lost unwanted fat in the process. I am still taking the protein shake (rice milk, protein powder, flax seeds and fruit) and following the circadian rythm way of eating: protein for breakfast, mid morning snack, lunch and mid afternoon snack and carbohydrates for dinner and I do not worry anymore about amounts of food or gaining weight. For the internal cleansing I followed "The Ultimate Fast" found in the book "Prostate Health in 90 Days" by Larry Clapp, PhD, JD. For the circadian way of eating the book: "The Circadian Prescription" by Sidney Mac Baker, M.D.For wellness in body, mind, and spirit the book: "The Ultimate Cure" The Healing Energy Within You by Bernie Siegel, M.D. Selina, it is better to go slowly in cutting down the harmful things, not all at once. I remember some 21 years ago when I first visited my homeopath I was all worried because I smoked a cigarrete once in a while and I new it was not only bad for my health but I was contaminating the air as well. The doctor told me first of all not to worry anymore because of that; he said one day will come when you will not need to smoke anymore. Fortunately that day came 12 years ago. You can e-mail me at perfectweight@... if you need any help in losing weight. Good luck! Guest guest
Harold, Make sure your problem with your hip isn't originating with the hip, independent from the back problems. Prior to my scoli surgery (one year ago today I might add) the surgeon made sure to evaluate the hips themselves to rule out degeneration, etc. Only then would he procede with back surgery. Guest guest
Harold, I had thoracic scoliosis surgery in 1972 at the age of 13. It sure did seem unfair. Did you have thoracic or lumabar, I am just very curious? I have had major problems with my lower back in the past 15 - 17 years. Only to come to fruition and keep me from working 12 years ago. I also suffer from RA and fibromyalgia too tho. I do have trouble with my right hip also and of course at 13 I had no problems with my hips, I was otherwise in good health except for the curved spine! Part of my hip pain may be due to my bad knee tho. But my hips have always been affected by my back. They have been uneven since the surgery and I even wear a small lift in my right shoe. You can try this at very little cost and with no RX from the Doc. I went to a shoemaker and told him what I needed. I got two different heights to see which was a better fit for me. It's an easy way to try to get some relief. Good luck and I look forward to " talking " to you in the future. Tina
Guest guest
Tina, Where did you have your surgery in 1972. I had mine at Boston Children's Medical Center, and I am curious to talk to anyone who might have had surgery there around that time period. fluff71 wrote: > > Harold, > > I had thoracic scoliosis surgery in 1972 at the age of 13. Guest guest
My surgeon was Dr. Keller. He did a great job and was very good to me and my parents throughout the time before and during my surgery. I also had a neurosurgeon on the case, but I'll have to find out what his name is...my parents still remember. I'll write more later...got to get to work soon... Guest guest
, I had surgery, (Harrington Rod, T5-L3) in 1975 at Children's Hospital in Boston. My surgeon was Lyle Michili, (sp). I didn't start having problems until 1996 and have since had another fusion from L5-S1 to stabilize spondylolisthesis. I am now being treated for chronic pain and am trying to find more info on flatback. I have been reading about it and I'm very concerned...I am always leaning forward and by the end of the day it is difficult to stand straight. I am hoping to avoid any more surgery but if it will help with the pain then I will look at the option. I would love to talk to you if you want. Guest guest
Hi Sherri... I'm sorry to hear that you're not doing very well. As far as I know, there is no non-surgical treatment to correct flatback. The good news is that, in the hands of the right doctor, the surgery to repair flatback is fairly successful. If you're still in Boston, there are many people who have gone to Dr. Rand for their revision surgery. Good luck. Regards,

Guest guest
Hi again, Just wondering...is apple cider vinegar OK for O's? I use lemon juice and oils (flax and olive) as per advice from ND. Would like a change of flavor, however. Just looked it up...apple cider is OK for secretors but not OK for non-secretors but lemon is good for both according to LR4YT. Guest guest
Probably more from habit. I use one of those salad dressing cruits that has the little line for vinegar, water and oil. I just do that. It's not much vinegar and more oil, 3x? Apple cider vinegar is the only non-avoid vinegar for Os, right guys? E Long > Can you tell me the proportions? Guest guest
My asthma has been in remission since childhood, my sensitivity to aspirin is not nearly as great as that of most persons on this list (but I haven't touched it in years now), and while my polyps eventually cause a lot of trouble, I have been able greatly to retard their growth with medical treatments. I've had an ENT tell me this still sounds like Samters, even in the absence of presently full-blown expression of each element of the triad. Karl W. Guest guest
Hi Sue - The single most important part of the O diet is adequate protein consumption. Consume at least 1 gram per body weight. At the same time, eat lots of greens and always some fat with each meal. If you still have space left to ear more then have some bread, but know that it doesn't support your health. Exercise daily with weights. Drink lots of water also. As far as your husband.. " " " " teach by example " " " " (be the change you want to see in your husband). Hope this helps. Love www.foodforyourblood.com <http://www.foodforyourblood.com/> Newbie I've just recently heard of the Type O diet. My husband is on the heart transplant list and a friend gave us Dr. D'Adamo's Blood Type 0 book. I have to be honest I read it and figured " Hey, I've done just fine all these years - why do I need to change anything now " . I put the book on the shelf but strangly it keep eating at me. I found your group and have only read about 20 messages and thought again " Hey, maybe there's something to this " . So the book is currently on the counter in my kitchen. I figured I might as well give this a whirl seeing as I need to lose about 10 pounds and we all want to feel better, right?! I see you can have Manna bread and I am a bread baker but geez, this bread is pretty involved to make. I love my bread for breakfast and I love my normal cereal too. What kinds of cereals and breads do you folks eat? And I really have to give up milk? I've never had green tea but I'll be adding that to my grocery list. Cheese will be a problem but I'll deal with it. Did you all feel overwhelmed thinking you had to change your way of eating? The 2nd part of my problem is convincing my husband to try the diet seeing as he has the most to gain. Now that I've totally bored you all I'll sit back and lurk and try to learn. Any tips would really be appreciated. We're glad to be aboard!! TIA Sue
Guest guest
I used to live on homemade bread and cheese.(Never felt good, duh) Now I eat Ezekial bread(toasted) and just found some sheep feta cheese on a trip to the big city. Yummy! wish I had bought more. There is also a spanish sheep cheese called Manchego (prizey), it's the best! Eat cereal only of you want to gain weight, some people here go totally grainless. Green tea is real nice, coffee used to upset my stomach, that I had to give it up even before I went on this diet. Milk gives me sinusprobs, so never was big on that either. Of course you'll have to make the decision, if it's worthwhile for you, but us oldtimers would never go back to the old way of eating. Hope your husband gets his transplant soon, wishing you both the best, Emmi
