I am not interested in eatting but would like to donate some money. Do they

have a trust fund set up or bank account that I can deposit some money into?

I just got a call from a fellow bandster, Barbara Hawks in Tacoma.

Barbara was in the SouthEnd soup nite group when we first started

meeting over 3 years ago.

Her friend, Rayann Belyea was banded in Mazatlan, MX two years ago.

She had surgery with Dr. Kuri on Sept 24th because her band had

eroded and Dr. Kuri said it was the worst case of erosion he has ever

seen. Her band couldn't be saved and she has had some bad

complications since that surgery.

She spent a week in St. ph hospital in Tacoma and now is on home

health care. Her insurance company is refusing to pay for anything

since this relates back to a WLS that they don't cover. Her expenses

are enormous.

There is going to be a benefit spaghetti feed & bake sale at Sacred

Heart Catholic Church in Tacoma (on 45th & McKinnly) on November 14th

from 4pm - 7pm. The cost is $7 for adults and $5 for kids (little

ones eat free). They are trying to raise money to help her with all

these medical expenses.

If anyone can attend the benefit to help Rayann that would be great.

They would appreciate any help they can get.

Thanks all - Elma in Graham, WA

Barbara is setting that up today. They are both employees of the

State of WA (Barbara is retired) and she will set it up with the

Credit Union. As soon as I have account information I will post it.

Thanks - Elma

,

Rayann was in the hospital room next to you, toward the outside door.

picked up my husband and I at the hotel on the 30th, then

picked her up at the hospital, with her son who stayed with her

throughout the ordeal she went through. ( made our border

crossing interesting, to say the least)

We talked all the way to the airport, as well as in the airport and

preloading on the plane. She was in okay spirits but knew she had had

a close call. I've been trying to make sure she's okay for three

weeks, since we got back, so I'm thankful she's had the hospital care

and is now home. If anyone knows Barbara or Rayann, please tell her

Phyllis & Don's prayers are with her and, when she's able, please

email us. (this site or kojiland@...)

Hope you're doing fine; I've finally gotten off my plateau a bit - now

15# - but it's the inches coming off that's amazing!!!! I had refused

to buy ANOTHER size larger, so the timing is beautiful! Take Care!

ANYONE???//

Just to clarify what I think might be a misunderstanding here - the

band itself is *not* physically eroding away. That doesn't happen.

When we refer to 'erosion', we are talking about a process in which

the stomach tissue reacts to the presence of the band by growing over

it, thus causing the band to begin to 'erode' into the stomach. it is

an uncommon complication, happening to less than 2% of band patients.
