Chanca piedra: phyllanthus niruri or phyllanthus amurense. Also known as bhumy

amalaki in Ayurveda. Fantastic liver and gallbladder herb. Not only

detoxifying and liver protective but liver tissue regenerative as well. Be a

little bit careful about common names such as " break stone " , while a good

indicator of indigenous use, not a guarantee. Any herb that stimulates the flow

of bile will be " stone dissolving " . Boldo (also known as break stone).

lysmachia (golden coin), coptis, gentian, yellow dock, collinsonia (stone root),

Oregon grape, ad infinitum are all going to be anti stone and detoxifying.

There is no silver bullet. There is the possibility (a good one) of escaping

the immediate crisis by flushing or other means, but the ultimate solution is

lifestyle and dietary changes. As to hormonal changes, this is a new one on me.

if you have references on this I would love to have you send them to me.

The liver involvement in the female hormonal system is quite large (you ladies

are designed to handle 2 organisms at once. Not only that but the monthly cycle

is all blood and liver related.). There are no hormonal components or

precursors in bhumy amalaki that I know of so suspect that any hormonal changes

are related to the liver involvement. Not necessarily a bad thing. Depending

on age, if pre menopausal or menopausal, the estrogen/progesterone balance may

go off for other reasons. Always, in all ways, -Dave

Thank you for the information about Chanca Piedra

Now thats really annoying that it does not state anywhere about increasing

oestrogen..

I have looked through many pages of info about this herb and strangely not once

seen anything about oestrogen..so thanks for that.

thanks Dave

for the very detailed reply on the bhumi amalaki, AKA chanca piedra..

I am glad that you too were not familiar with the hormone effect..in fact I

would have thought the opposite, as its a helpful herb for the liver.
