Hi,

Finished the race, picture attached if interested.  The official times aren't

out yet, but the clock said 41.09 when I crossed the finish line. But I started

at the back of the pack so it took a couple minutes to get to the actual

start.  The timing chip will give a more accurate time.  It felt great to

finish it.  There were some pretty big hills, so my left calf is a little sore,

there are not a lot of hills around here to practice on (like none unless I

drive somewhere).   When we got their I convinced my son to run with  me, he

was running in Jeans so he was a little warm by the time we finished, but he

stayed with me instead of running at his pace, so that  made it a lot more

fun.  I did have to pass a few people, and a few passed me, but I think I was

pretty much in the right start place.  There is an 8 mile race in May I might

do, but it depends on my schedule, more specifically it depends on when my

daughter decides to get married. I

know physically I can be ready for it by then.  Thanks for the advice, I hit

the portapotties as soon as we got there and shortly thereafter there was a huge

line.

I know it is only a 5K, but it is something I never would have considered doing

when I was heavy. I was the kid that couldn't even run a mile in grade school

and hated running every step of the way.  It is very satisfying to know I was

able to do that.  Thanks for the support along the way, especially Dan and

Sandy, I started talking to Sandy on the Kuri line before I was ever banded at

the end of 2006.

Never minimize your achievements. There were thousands of others who

didn't do any distance at all. You did great, and an excellent time,

too. Way faster than me.

One time Gail was called up for a trophy for first in age group (65 to

70) and she said " oh, it doesn't matter, I was probably the only one " .

They reminded her that she had DONE it. Millions of other people (or

thousands in Boise area where we lived then) hadn't even gotten up

that morning, much less gone 5K.
