Hi,

Where do I find this program? Is it free or.....?

I like the idea of daily weighing for the same reason expressed by

many, i.e. if I let weighing go to long, then I actually get scared

to weigh. Daily weighing takes the power out of that fear. And since

I understand that wild fluctuations can occur, daily ups and downs

don't concern me too much. I do/would like to see that trend line

head south. LEt me know, if you would, where I can obtain " Weight

Commander " .

Thanks

Each to their own, of course, but the reasons - to me - for weighing

only weekly are many:

1. We are trying to normalize our lives and get far, far away from

the " DIET " mentality. This has pervaded our minds for years, and

delivers a message (often subconsciously) that we are doomed to

another failure. These suble messages are very powerful. Mental

attitude is EXTREMELY important in a banding journey. Dily weighing

discourages us from looking at the weekly and monthly picture, which

is so important in banding, when there will not be weekly changes

every week.

2. The number we see on the scale often sets up our day as a " good "

day or a " bad " day, even if we think we understand that the number is

meaningless. Thisd encourages frustration and depression, if we are

up a pound or two temporarily. Mental outlook has been proven to

negatively impact weight loss, metabolism, and activity.

3. If we understand the daily numbers are meaningless, then why are

we still doing it? Banding is about learning to change what did not

work, or what did not help in the past.

4. If we are aiming for a 1-2# loss, on average, over a week's time,

weighly daily is only measuring water weight changes. How can these

be useful? They will make any graphing totally inaccurate. Averaging

inaccurate weights will give inaccurate results! I found this early

on, when I WAS weighing daily. Some weeks showed no loss, or even a

gain, this way. But when i went back and graphed only the weight on

the same ONE day a week, the graph changed completely, and showed the

downward trend that was accurate. This positive proof is much more

uplifting than inaccurate results. If you are up a pound or two with

a WEEKLY weight, THEN you know you must look at what is going on.

5. Weighing so often encourages us to look only at numbers as a proof

of success, when it is actually the NSV's and improved health that

are most impt. IMO, we need to be much more concerned with becoming

healthier and more active, and these are changes that will not show

on the scale. I believe we need to try hard not to look at the goal

pof banding asa weight loss - and daily weighing encorages this

misconception.

I learned all this only in retrospect. Most of the experienced people

also told me not to weigh daily, but I had to learn it myself. Many

of you may have to learn yourself, too. But - again - each to their

own! Good luck to all in finding what works for them! Sandy RN

Sandy,

I'm the first one to say " to each his own " , but wouldn't weekly

weighing set one up for a good week or bad week. It doesn't seem to

matter how often you do it, it's going to affect you until the next

time you get on the scale. Then you may be second guessing all week

long on whether or not you just had a bad day, or if it's an upward

trend.

When I was thin I weighed every day. Many times it gave me the kick

in the butt to get on the stick again. I usually noticed when my

habits went downhill a daily trend up. Then I would loose the 5 lbs

by good habits.

LOL Of course I am a weighing fanatic. I have a pair of Drs. scales

so that the numbers don't fluctuate greatly in the first place.

Much better than the less expensive scales that can show a minute by

minute variance.

The way I look at weighing is that Im not on a diet so I dotn need to weigh in.

My life with the

band has changed. I know i am loosing weight by how I feel and my cloths. Scale

means dieting.

Its like you weigh in to determine if you can stop yet.

I figure if i weigh in and i am down several pounds then i can give myself

permission to eat the

ice cream bar - cause im doing so well. But if i havent lost or perish the

thought gained -- then

im depressed and what the hell wont matter anyways, and one again its time to

eat that ice cream

bar.

Better to step off the roller coaster and off the scale and live you life

knowing every day you are

gettign thinner, healthier and sexier to the best of your ability and just have

that ice cream bar

when you really want a special treat with no excuses made. (however just take

one bite and throw

the rest out the car window :) ha!!
