Guest guest
Tammy, I also have Hashi's (since 1991) and have been on Synthroid. My next step is to speak with my alternative MD about putting me on Armour, because I know there is something missing in my Synthroid to complete the puzzle. I have been on Iodine (1 Iodaral pill daily) for 2 months and can honestly say I have not felt better in years. I don't know that it is all the iodine, since I also started Yoga a month ago and do it religiously for 30 minutes every morning, but what I definitely notice, that is attributable to the iodine, is that by breast tissue has become very even and when doing my breast self-exam this month was amazed at how all the fibrocystic lumps have vanished. You are wise to ask questions and explanations because for too long I listened to my endocrinologist who's word was GOD to me, only to find out he really knew nothing about getting me back on the road to wellness. I regret I waited 14 years plus to question why I didn't feel like myself anymore. Everyone chalked it up to aging and "that's life", but now I know different because at 53, my body feels (and looks) like 30 again. The only way to avoiding an ill, broken down body as you get older is to tirelessly learn about all aspects of nutrition and complete wellness....body and soul. I am currently taking Armour thyroid and supporting my adrenal glands with natural methods/supplementation. I am also low in Ferritin so I am taking iron.I am working with a holistic nurse practitioner (who also happens to be my SIL) and a naturopath. I have brought up the issue of iodine supplementation with both of them. My SIL has a favorable opinion about it and would like me to start Iodoral in hopes of resolving my cystic problems. My naturopath, on the other hand, thinks that it would be a terrible idea. Fearing that the iodine with completely bind up my thyroid gland rendering it completely useless (which it will be anyway due to the hashi's). I have been reading conflicting information on the use of Iodoral with Hashi's. I know Brownstein and Abraham seem to think it could help and probably won't hurt, but others say no way (mostly the mainstream docs). Can anyone tell me the exact reason why the use of Iodoral would be contraindicated with Hashi's. I hear the "yes" and "no" opinions, but no one gives a reason why.I would love to hear your thoughts and opinions on the matter. Also, would you be able to share a good, reliable source for purchasing the Iodoral? There are a lot of places online, I see, but really want a reputable source. Thanks, I look forward to hearing your ideas.Tammy D.
Guest guest
Hi Tammy, Look up Willner Chemists in NYC for Iodoral ($40+ shipping). If you are a member of www.lef.org, it's $37.50 plus shipping. I also have hashimoto's, taking 45 mg of Iodoral/day, so I am interested in hearing what others have to say about hashimoto's. my alt med doc said fine and we are looking at symptoms and test results to be sure i'm ok. i feel FANTASTIC. (Also taking Armour). Regards, DevaTammy <tdemers@...> wrote: Hello all,I am a 30 year old female with Hashimoto's Thyroiditis, Fibrocystic Breasts and Cystic Ovaries.
