Guest guest
The boards are not substitutes for your doctor's advice.... I think you should check in with the doc. In addition to that, I would avoid hamburgers (bread causes lots of trouble for lots of folks), and carbonation is not something I would personally use much of (what does your doc say?). If my stoma was that irritated, I would go on liquids only for few days. Guest guest
Ummmm Hamburgers are not band friendly foods and also soda, it can irritate the pouch the caffeine in it, other than that, If you are in pain. I would call my dr. asap Jena Pain in stomach r I need alittle information... I was banded on 9-8-04 I have lost about 32 pds to date. I had my first fill 4 weeks post band. I was really nervous about getting the fill and really didn't think I needed it. I have been losing steady since banding although I was getting hungry between meals. Anyway I have a fill 1.2cc. After the fill my stomach started hurting...... really sore. I talked to you guys on the boards and you reasured me it was normal and that the stomach was VERY sensitive. It hurt for about three day enough that I stayed home from work. Well.... this weekend I took a bite of a hamburger (first time and it felt funny going down.... I then stupidly to a big swig of coke. It was all down hill from there it felt like it would come back up... it didn't but i did a lot of burping and feeling really uncomfortable. Now my stomach is cramping and spasing like after the fill. To make a long story short.... I'm home again from work. I can take about half a breath and I get a stabbing pain on my left side. This has been going on since Sunday. Is this normal? or should I go to the doctor? I am back on liquids because it is just easier to handle. I does feel slghtly better today. any thoughts?? Thanks if it weren't for these boards I would feel very lost. The doctor who did my surgrey is not real personable and the office workers really bite! Guest guest
Yes, please call your doc for any severe pain. That fill was quite early. Don't ever let your doc give a fill you don't believe you need. There is no set schedule for fills. As the others said well, neither hamburger nor bread are good band foods. Poor-quality meat abd most breads simply don't work. and sodas cause all kinds of trouble, some serious. if your doc has not given you very clear guidelines about what are good band foods - and what causes trouble or can be harmful - let us know. there is a great deal to learn about keeping your band safe and healthy, and your doc must be providing very good followup care to give you a good chance to do well. Going back on liquids, as you have done, is always the right thing until you figure out what is going on and get help. Sandy R > > I need alittle information... Guest guest
, First, breathe in and breathe out. Relax. The burping is often caused by swallowing air when eating or drinking. It is also common for me when my stomach is upset. I don't know what might be causing the problem but you will in the morning. Don't freak yourself out in the meanwhile. Please let us know what the barium swallow shows. Charlie 05/16/03 405/302/200 Glen Rose, TX
