Guest guest
The actual amount of fill you have does not really matter at all. some need just a little to be right, others need quite a bit more. The only thing that really matters is if it just right for YOU. Lots of people need between 3-4 cc to be about right, and some need still more. 3 cc in a " 4 " cc band is pretty average, not really a " high " level at all. If you have had NO trouble with a fill at all so far, you're possibly still not close to a good fill. When you're getting close, you will start to feel a small difference with a fill or two and then know you need just a tiny bit more. the only thing you can do is continue to progress slowly. Each fill usually is VERY small at this point - possibly only 0.2 cc or so - until you are right. Even as small an amt. as 0.1 or 0.2 cc can make all the difference. Don't be too afraid of a small overfill - they are easily fixed if you get back very soon. It's only the people that wait and try to live with them that get into trouble. Yes, apllesauce or yogurt are better than plain water, which should always go right thru. I'm afraid it's still largely a guessing game, though - good luck! Hope this next one is close to perfect! Guest guest
Sandy, I had my fill done yesterday and he put me up another .25 for a total of 3.25. Of course I am on liquids yestereday and today and then on to muahies tonight. So far I feel no different. I will try some beef stew tonight but I have the feeling I will not feel any difference. I've read many posts where a fill " kicks in " after a week or two. Do you think this is possible? The doc says that if I don't feel any different in 2 weeks to give him a call and then he thinks I should see the nutritionist. > > > Thanks > > S. - L.I.,NY
Guest guest
Yes, it can be 1-2 weeks before a fill kicks in. It's always your weight loss that tells you if the fill is right, not any restriction you may or may not feel. Please review Jessie's handout called " How to tell if you are perfectly adjusted " . Lots of people need more than 3-3.5 cc, although at this point you should feel at least a bit of difference.Have you had a barium swallow recently to be sure the band is in good position? If you're still having no change with this fill in a 2 weeks, I'd ask the doc about a dye test to evaluate possible leakage of a port disconnect. Both are easily correctly, if necessary. Also review the band eating guidelines re protein, fiber, calories so you're sure you're just not eating too much to lose weighyt. A good goal for most of us is 1200-1500 cal a day, composed mostly of protein, and veggies. SandyR > > Sandy, > I had my fill done yesterday and he put me up another .25 for a > total of 3.25.
