Guest guest
agreed george. lifestyle change and journey it is. the only time i get into trouble is when i forget and mindlessly eat --- a little slime warns me from further mindlessness. i just feel though that i need to give myself some slack, remind myself that yes, i am human, and sometimes slip up and just keep going!!! But as to reassons, I don't get it, as the food is available 24/7, and most of it pretty darn tempting. As to bridge cruises, tell me more (private email may be better). We always play bridge when we cruise, and there is sometimes a director/organizer/life master to lead it all. Is this a serious one with master points, all duplicate, etc? We've not been playing duplicate due to lack of time....feeling that you've either got to do it or not. -- Best regards, Dan mailto:honu@... LOL Only reason I've not done it is because I don't have a cat (thank goodness), though have lived with large numbers of them in the past. Just one little obese dog. She's on a diet and SHE'S PISSED. She's also turned into a beggar and a nag about food. Maybe I can get her a doggie band......But at 17 pounds the doc says she needs to get down to 12 pounds. In past I've also tried things like taking the remainders of the evil bag of potato chips and smashing them all into dust (inside the bag, sort of like the way you'd break up crackers), or pouring coffee grounds on various food items in the trash, etc. Hey, whatever it takes. Guest guest
-they do have food available almost non-stop. however, the things they offer after or between mealtimes is so blatantly not what i should be eating that its not hard to resist. it really is a lot of crap. (didn't used to think so, but my standards seem to have changed since banding) last year on this ship, there was an evening sushi bar. i would stop there at the end of the day and have a bowl or two of miso and take some Ginger to my room (its supposed to be a good remedy for seasickness) . for later munchies, i pick up a few of those tiny peanut butter packs in the am at breakfast. they contain less than a tablespoon of PB. if i'm desperate, one of those will quell the demons. (or two or three). the best part of this ship was that the huge " metal monster " in the gym was under by twelve pounds. was it ever a shot of confidence getting on that scale. i tried to jam it into my luggage. no way. but it was a delight to step on it. LOL. george -- In , Diane <dsb135711@...> wrote: > > george, have a wonderful time on the cruise...i thought cruises had > 24 hour food!!! > and please, dont disappear!!!! > > At 07:51 AM 12/13/2007, you wrote: > > > > > >i'm going again on a new year's bridge cruise to the caribean. i'm > >really looking forward to it for a variety of reasons. but one > >really good one is that when i'm away from home, i always lose weight > >(since banding) because evening snack accessibility is dramatically > >reduced. i think if i religiously stopped eating anything after 8 > >pm. i'd eventually disappear. Guest guest
diane, when you get to an optimum fill level (actually, i should speak for myself and not generalize, oops) i have found that i can't really slip on the good stuff. my band simply won't allow it. so what's left is the bad stuff. and it is this that we must approach in moderation OR not at all. however, given that we're human and the will is strong but the flesh is sometimes weak, we must continue to be vigilant and to remember that this minute we're in right now is the beginning of the rest, so a bad mistake can be rectified by good behavior from now on. one thing that keeps me going is the response i get from virtually everyone. yesterday at my club, a woman i have known for a pretty long time and never really liked told me i looked wonderful. she is now my " new best friend " . LOL I must admit, i can't resist these remarks. And i have several pictures at my club of how i looked two years ago. (when fishing for compliments, one must realize how others' memories may not be too accurate. so keeping a before picture available to remind them is handy. ok, i admit it, i'm a compliment prostitute. so sue me!!) this is truly a wonderful journey. george > >Diane, > > > >i'm a proponent of not denying yourself things you like to eat, > >providing they aren't unfriendly to your band and that you won't lose > >control over them. >//
Guest guest
Dan, at my bridge club, i serve a lite lunch (i must admit the players are vultures. LOL) which requires the preparation of salads and lots of confection and chips and candy etc. while preparing the salads i have a waste can handy. i taste them to ensure the quality, and then out it all goes into the can. george > > > the cat box receptical is hilarious. Guest guest
i think george then that i am not at an optimal fill level yet. am going on monday for my appointment and am bringing the printouts from sandy!! for my reference if nothing else. i find that my restriction is not consistent and while i know that we have discussed that in the past, i find that i do not have to take pea sized bites, but i still have to chew chew chew. i also find now that i can stop when i feel the band telling me to, but sometimes do get a gentle slimy reminder, but no pb anymore. i havent weighed myself (because i did for a while at my health club and didnt like it) so i will see on monday. when are you leaving for the cruise? That is very cool. hey, new best friends isn't all bad, are they? sometimes they become VERY good friends. Can you remind my senile old brain your age, starting weight, and goal weight and current weight? If you don't mind, of course. -- Best regards, Dan mailto:honu@... Guest guest
hi dan, i'm 63, your honor. and i swear, i didn't want to eat that krispy cream. honest!!!! 290 start, 187 finish. goal not much lower. i've been happy with where i am for the last year. i could go lower as i did when i was much younger, but gravity has redistributed everything to my liking. and what gravity pulled down too low, i had lifted. LOL george > > > one thing that keeps me going is the response i get from virtually > > everyone. yesterday at my club, a woman i have known for a pretty > > long time and never really liked told me i looked wonderful. she is > > now my " new best friend " .
