Iodine Dosage

I recently ordered iodine from Breath of Life, and it is only 2% (I

understand that is the strongest they can sell) and I'm wondering

about the dosage at this strength.

I am hypothyroid and fairly stabilized at 6 grains daily; I'd like to

improve my energy levels and hopefully regrow some hair!

Some people start at 6.25 mg and others jump in at 50 mg.  Go with what works best for your body.~W

Hi Carox, What kind of iodine did you get?  It sounds like kelp, which isn't really what is recommended on this group.  The primary sources of iodine recommended on this group is either a solution called Lugol's, or Iodoral.  It is also suggested that before you start supplementing with Iodine, you familiarize yourself with the protocol and it's companion supplements, which you can do by reading the member files, and best of all, reading Dr. Brownstein's book " Iodine:  Why You Need It, Why You Can't Live Without It " .

To better answer your question, how much you start off at is usually a personal question of comfort.  Some people start right at 50mg, and others, like myself, start at 6.25mg or 12mg.Joline

thank you very much for helping me guys!Well the problem is that I dont live in the Us and the only iodine they have here are these tablets I boughtit says:iodine 100ug: iodid potassium 130,8 ug+lactose and different conservatives which isnt nicebut 100ug is nothing! and it says to not take more than one a day lol!maybe i should try another pharmacy, some might import products from abroad. You can buy a 7% Lugol's solution from UK ebay. They ship to Belgium.

you can get lugol's solution made in france. perhaps you can get a compounding pharmacy to make it in Belgium. ask for: solution de lugol. fibrojay

The dosing with iodine is easiest (in my opinion) to buy the 5% but I believe

they do not sell the 5% overseas. So, I would go with the 1% and just figure

that 1 drop = 1 mg. (close enough)...

Can you get 1% where you are? If not, go with the 7%.

One drop of the 5% =6.25 mgs and most people would take 2 drops a day to equal

the 12.5 mgs a day which is the basic requirement.

Presumably one needs less of the stronger one. I'm already on iodine protocol

and have been using up an iodine supplement I had obtained here, but am now

about to order Lugol's through Amazon. (Am also on HC).

Thanks Jot, I usually order through Amazon UK, and can get 3%, 7% and 15%. I've

just noticed they actually have the equivalent amount per drop below the

description, so that makes it a lot easier - hadn't seen that before! I'll go

with the 7%.
