Guest guest Posted July 21, 2006 Report Posted July 21, 2006 Are the Selenium amounts you give a misprint? I take 200 mcg (micrograms), twice a day and would not want to go any higher. Guest guest Posted July 21, 2006 Report Posted July 21, 2006 Dear Orelindel, You are severely overdosing yourself with selenium. An effective dose for a cancer patient is 1 mg in a liquid format. The RDA is 70 mcg's. Besides, I know of no known protective effect of selenium for radiation. I originally started with Lugol's and my laundry list of symptoms resolved. I switched to Iodoral and added selenium (300 to 400 mg) and they returned. I decided to stay with Iodoral, but reduce the selenium to 200 mg. My symptoms again resolved. After a dentist appointment last week, I was concerned about my radiation exposure. Guest guest Posted July 21, 2006 Report Posted July 21, 2006 Hi Rick, Thanks for responding to my post. I've reduced the selenium from 400 to 300 mcg a day to 200 mcg. I know that the 200 mcg exceeds the RDA, but so does my iodine intake. When I reach saturation of iodine, I'll reduce the selenium. I was taking the extra selenium for the free radicals produced by the radiation. My dentist had me sip some green tea while at the office. I took it several steps further. I'm intrigued by your comments on silica. If my intake of calcium is low, my teeth and knees ache. I take a calcium supplement and get relief within 24 hours. Do you think that I could use silica instead? Thanks, Orelindel > > Dear Orelindel, > You are severely overdosing yourself with selenium. Guest guest Posted July 24, 2006 Report Posted July 24, 2006 Orelindel, I originally responded to your comment that you were taking 300-400 milligrams of selenium daily. If in fact you are taking 300-400 micrograms then you are fine. This is an acceptable amount as far as I am concerned. I firmly believe that we are an over calcified society and that silica in the amounts of 300-400 milligrams per day are essential for good health especially of the collagen tissues of the body. Guest guest Posted July 25, 2006 Report Posted July 25, 2006 That's good to know. I might just keep taking 200 mcg if I don't have any signs of toxicity. So far, so good! Thanks Alobar! > > I have been taking 200 mcg x twice a day for over a decade now with no ill effects. Alobar > Quote
Guest guest Posted July 25, 2006 Report Posted July 25, 2006 Hi Rick, I appreciate your comments and concern. The thought of 400 mg should have set off all sorts of alarm bells. Don't know why 400 mcg triggered a return of symptoms for me. After my amalgams are removed, that might once again change my supplement requirements. This such like a rubiks cube! Guest guest Posted July 25, 2006 Report Posted July 25, 2006 Dear Orelindel, When you get your mercury amalgams removed be absolutely sure your dentist will be providing you with an independent air supply so that you are not breathing the air around you. Without this safeguard you will be breathing in most of the mercury currently in your mouth as it is vaporized by the drill-consequently ending up in much worse condition than when you started . Guest guest Posted July 25, 2006 Report Posted July 25, 2006 Rick, if that were the case, wouldn't all dentists, many of whom have practiced for decades doing amalgams daily, be competely overloaded on mercury and showing all sorts of toxicity symptoms? Never saw my dentist using an independent air supply for himself when my amalgams were removed years ago. Just wondering, is there any study available on dentists/dental hygienists health? Guest guest Posted July 25, 2006 Report Posted July 25, 2006 It is my understanding that dentists have the highest rate of suicide among any profession. I have not seen any studies of the health or longevity of dentists and their assistants. Perhaps one exists but I doubt it would be funded by the ADA as to this day they deny there is any danger in mercury amalgam fillings. Additionally, each person is metabolically different and will react differently to large doses of mercury. Consequently, someone who develops cancer or heart disease, or any one of a number of neurological problems may not even think of relating the problem to mercury exposure. All I can relate to is my own experience where I was able to directly correlate the origin of specific symptoms to the removal of my amalgams. As I began to work diligently on the removal of the mercury (after testing and affirming an overload condition using hair, blood, and a DMPS urine challenge) I slowly experienced a lessening of symptoms to the point now where most of the symptoms are gone. Did you know that the word Quack as it relates to the medical profession relates to doctors who used mercury in their disease treatment protocols? Mercury use was widespread in the mid 1800's and usually resulted in causing more problems including death, than the disease itself. My cousin, who practiced dentistry, died of prostate cancer at the age of 54. I think there was a direct relationship. That is my take anyway. Guest guest Posted July 25, 2006 Report Posted July 25, 2006 Just to add a tidbit. I have a friend who told me that her grandfather was a retired dentist who gave up his practice early because of the shakes. She told me that they eventually committed him to a nursing home because he couldn't hold a glass of water without splashing it out before he could drink it. She said that he was 'as mad as a hatter' just before he died. -- Re: The effect of too much selenium> > > Hi Rick,> > I appreciate your comments and concern. Guest guest Posted July 26, 2006 Report Posted July 26, 2006 Mad Hatters, as in Alice in Wonderland, were a very real phenomena back when hatters cleaned felt in large tubs of Merecury, bare-handed. I have personally known several older dentists who seemed quite mad to me. I always suspected Mercury was at cause. I also knew a young man who was poisoned with Mercury while at college. He became totally unable to care for himself, or even go to Social Services for help. The college changed the records so all mention of him working with Mercury were expunged so they could not be sued. A friend put him on a special diet to remove the Mercury. He eventually became somewhat functional, but not fully so. Alobar On 7/25/06, comdyne@... <comdyne@...> wrote: > > > > > Just to add a tidbit.
