Hi all,

I called my Kaiser pharmacy to see if they carried Lugol's and they do.

I called my Dr. to see if I could get a prescription.

She said Lugol's was potassium chloride and was given in case of

nuclear attacks and for hyperthyroidism.

Can anyone refute this for me? Is she right?

It's potassium iodine/iodide. Yes it is given in case of a nuc attack but

it is also a known supplement for iodine. You can order it on the net w/o

an rx. Just go to the Iodine group website and look under the files

section. There is info on what sites offer it.

Potassium Chloride is a different compound, lugols is potassium iodine/iodide.

Used to treat those who have had thyroid removal primarily, and administered

in the event of radiation exposure, due to nuclear fallout.

Before you decide to use a iodine supplement like lugols, make sure you read

all of the information, not just the "props".Get a sneak peek of the all-new AOL.com.

I'd advise firing your doctor as she sure seems incompetant to me.

I sure would not go to her for treatment or advice.

That is the way conventional medicine uses high iodine.

I bought Lugol's but haven't started it yet. Can you tell me the

information I should read to warn me off? I'm hypothyroid and have had

breast cancer.

Hi,

I was researching hemochromatosis and came across this info on Kaiser

Permanente, I thought you might be interested,

http://www.kaiserpapers.org/

this is where I got the links from:

http://www.tomnjoan.com/

http://www.tomnjoan.com/history/history.html

I hope that's useful and appropriate info for you, I am in Australia

and we have government medical so don't have to deal with groups like

Kaiser, but we still deal with plenty of incompetents! :)

Take care

Hi

I'm new to this list, and have been using a product put out by NOW (a supplement manufacturer), called POTASSIUM PLUS IODINE, and containing: Iodine (from Potassium Iodide): 225 mcg per tablet; and Potassium (from Potassium Chloride and Iodide) 99 mg per tablet. I've been taking two tablets a day (450 mcg Iodine), and was wondering if anyone knew if this product was a good source of Iodine.

thanks

jp
