I have not read about the kidney specifically but it has been known to

effect cysts pretty much body wide so my inclination would be that it would

help but in a high enough dose. At lower doses your thyroid will take all /

most of it. It takes a lot more to get to the rest of the body due to the

large quantity of tissues and organs competing for it.

Walt,

My daughter has PKD and I emailed Dr. Brownstein asking about iodine

therapy for PKD, but didn't hear anything back from him.

However as I researched more about this..I learned that iodine must

be used with Extreme caution in those with kidney disease as it can

cause more damage...so I'm thinking maybe PKD and iodine therapy is

not a good mix.

i don't think you're saying that Dr. Flechas has stated iodine is a

treatment for polycystic kidney disease, which causes cysts in the

kidney...but rather you're just saying he is an advocate of high

iodine doses...

but since this issue is very very close to me (my daughter has

PKD)...and iodine is a huge no-no for them (they can't even have

iodine contrast dye without risking damage and decline of already

compromised kidney function)....i think some major caution is

necessary here...

just as there are docs who are writing good things about iodine...and

yet do mention that those with thyroid disease may have

problems...I've also been told Dr. Brownstein has agreed (in personal

email) that those with compromised kidneys are another group that may

have adverse effects.

So I just think it's important to remember that although iodine has

proven therapeutic benefits...and that folks may even be able to take

up to 200 mg. without any adverse effect to their thyroid gland...we

are not all alike..and there are groups that may be quite susceptible

to damage from high dose iodine.

That iodine helps kidney cysts. But just read a post saying someone's

daughter has bad reactions to iodine so I just don't know. I would ask

Brownstein I guess. Didn't someone just say he writes about it in his

new book?

When is it available? Anybody know?

He is hoping to have his book out the end of this month - don't know if it

is. If I talk to him tonight I will ask him. I would guess that he wanted

to take it with us to CA this week for the Iodine Conference.

He does not address kidney issues with his new addition. The new chapters

are on Selenium, Organification / Oxidation, Autoimmune and Iodine and

Cancer.

I did ask Dr. B about kidney disease and iodine and he is doing some

checking. I will ask him again this week when I am with him. I have a list

of questions for him. I will have my laptop with me so if I get a chance I

will update the group.

I hope to find out about correcting the filter process

of the kidneys. I was told that pain pills like Lorcet

would destroy the kidney filters and my daughter was

addicted to these due to doctors and operations. She

no longer is addicted but left pretty diseased and

does not seem to be filtering properly and has gained

about 60 pounds in the last 6 months. Was already

heavy.

Thanks a lot,

I was only there on Saturday, but atrial fibrillation didn't come up. I

would have asked during Q & A but I didn't see your post asking about

it until I got back.

And as said, no one seemed to have any experience with

polycistic kidney disease.

Bummer. I was hoping they might be able to address if enough Iodine could shrink a parathyroid cyst. Really I guess it doesn't matter if they addressed because I have enough evidence from here and other on-line sources that enough iodine can shrink this sort of cyst. I am gonna sure give it a try! It beats surgery any day!! :-) Annie/Texas
