Guest guest
Janie - if you didn't seem to have any trouble with the lugol's why change to iodoral? My guess would be toxins - are you drinking enough water to flush your body properly? I know you like to drink watered down juice a lot thru the day - but how about some good old fashioned water? You also need to add some Vit C, probiotics (live yogurt) to help your body handle the toxic dumping. The other thing you might want to consider is bromism - your body is dumping bromide as a result of the high dose of iodine. Bromism can be seen in lethargy, acne, rashes amongst other things. You can stop this by stopping the iodine for 48 hours & then resting for a while (maybe a week?) and then restart at a lower dose so as to not induce the bromism again. my .02c! Guest guest
It's $9.95/ounce at jcrow. If you buy the 16 oz bottle it comes down to just $3.44/ounce. That will last you a L-O-N-G time!! Guest guest
Janie, it is hard to compare painting Lugols with oral Iodoral. Painting on any iodine results in about 90% evaporating. So you may want to factor that in. Best wishes, Sharon > Has anyone here done a round of Lugols......and the a round of > Iodoral...and did you notice any difference?? > > I did Lugols for several months, painting 2-3 drops per breast, > totally 4-6 drops daily. Guest guest
K, I changed because I was doing Lugol's topically and it's very messy. Perhaps I should have simply put drops in orange juice as I saw some of you do. lol. And I was curious about Iodoral. Your point about drinking enough is good, which I haven't done this past week due to being out of town, then a visit by my son. I already eat yogurt daily, and am returning to having at least 4000 mgs of Vit. C a day today. My last Vit. C drink was a week ago! lol. I did take 48 hours off, and yesterday, took half a tablet....and had excessive sleepiness last night, besides the achiness and headache. Grrr. I guess I'll have to stop it for several days. Guest guest
King's Song, I rubbed it in. Used a small baggie on my fingers to prevent the stain on the fingers. I should have switched to oral. This swallowing of Iodoral has been the pits for me. Janie > Do you not take the Lugol's orally?
Guest guest
Abbe, I do know that applying Lugols topically produced the same effect that taking Iodoral orally produced--the breakout on my cheeks. So from that, it was working. But with Iodoral, you now have to add excess sleepiness, achiness and a headache behind my ears. Sheesh. From posts so far, I know I need to return to drinking my watered down orange juice with 4000-5000 mgs Vit. C--haven't done it in a week due to being out of town and having my son visit. My plan right now is to totally stop the Iodoral again for several more days..then resume on 6 mgs for awhile......and slowly make my way up to a full tablet. Gracia, I know you say I should go right up to 50 mgs, but that just plain scares me to death--lol--when you consider that 12.5 has done this to me. Guest guest
Are the breakouts that I've seen folks mention not related to toxicity? kelp acne? http://www.healthatoz.com/healthatoz/Atoz/ency/mineral_toxicity.jsp Iodine toxicity can result from an intake of 2.0 mg of iodide per day. The toxicity results in impairment of the creation of thyroid hormone, resulting in lower levels of thyroid hormone in the bloodstream. The thyroid gland enlarges, as a consequence, and goiter is produced. This enlargement is also called hyperthyroidism. Goiter is usually caused by iodine deficiency. In addition to goiter, iodine toxicity produces ulcers on the skin. This condition has been called " kelp acne, " because of its association with eating kelp, an ocean plant, which contains high levels of iodine. Iodine toxicity occurs in Japan, where large amounts of seaweed are consumed. cindi > > Abbe, I do know that applying Lugols topically produced the same > effect that taking Iodoral orally produced--the breakout on my cheeks. Guest guest
Jackie, no I haven't tried any of their other products yet. I found their site while searching yesterday and ordered the Lugol's myself. They have another site too which has a lot of other information. http://www.risingsunhealth.com/ Dianne > > > Here is another place to get Lugol's and it's on sale right now for a > > 2 oz. size: > > > > http://bloodroot.stores..net/lugolsiodine.html > > > > Dianne > > > > . > > > > >
Guest guest
Hi, newbie here. Thanks for the reminder! I just ordered it from this site. I couldn't figure out why I didn't have a confirming email from my internet order for Lugol's....I had to CALL them, duh. Their site doesn't let you order directly online. And I couldn't remember the name of the site. Can you say " hypo brain fog " ? But they took my order with no problem over the phone. Nice people. Some of the other sites require that you have a " school " affiliation to order it in this quantity. This one didn't. My MIL has Dupuytren's Contracture in one hand. The Lugol's/iodine is also supposed to help with softening the cartilage. Figured it was worth the shot, since I also wanted to try some for my hypo symptoms. I'm waiting for the results of my iodine-loading test. I mailed the test back Friday. In my first skin patch iodine test that I did, the iodine was sucked up in just 6 hours. Hmmm.... I have an appointment with my NP in another 10 days, but I might bump that up so I have the iodine test results in hand when I go. Has anyone discussed possible iodine deficiency/hypoT with their NP? Were they up on it? How did it go? Thanks, > Here is one for 16oz for $21.71. > http://www.sciencestuff.com/prod/Chem-Rgnts/C1924
Guest guest
Yes, I just ordered from ScienceStuff around 10/4. Iodine is not considered a hazardous chemical for their shipping purposes. You have to call them to order it though. The site doesn't take web orders for iodine. If you click on the " Order " button on the Lugol's page, their phone number will display. Customer service was very nice. > > Sciencestruff has a good price, but will they sell Lugol's to > individuals? Guest guest
Gracia, the cause-and-effect mechanisms of " too low Armour " is quite different from " low amounts of iodine " . Taking " too little Armour " produces a feel-bad situation from the Pituitary's TSH telling an already-diseased thyroid to cut it's production even further. There is no feedback-loop-result from low dose iodine that would be corrected by taking more iodine. If a particular amount of iodine causes me to have the particular toxin-release symptoms I'm having, I shudder to think what taking more Iodoral would do to me. lol. Of course, if someone can come up with a logical biological reason why taking more Iodoral would be good, in light of what 12 1/2 has done, I'm listening.
