Guest guest
Sis H. Oh yes I do have pain in the area. I have the old fashioned placement due to my cancer situation. I have the pocket in my waist, where the newer unit tends to 'float' and hit nerves, then I have wires sewn into my nerve from a botched job in 94. I sometimes get a hot shooting pain. My last implant was in Oct. 99. Love, Jeannie (this is my 3rd unit.) Defib > I just joined this list today so I'm new to all this. Does anyone > have pain in the area of the defib? Guest guest
Jeanie, I've heard of the ones in the waist area and hear they are not very pleasant. Mine is up above. But sometimes it hearts and also I really have pain sometimes deep down inside where I had heart surgery. I talk to a lot of people who have had heart surgery and have no pain. It's been 3 years now since heart surgery. I talked to my doctor about it and he said most people don't have pain like this but a few have it and there seems to be no reason. We just have it. Guest guest
I have some soreness in the area, but it gets better over time. My first two ICD's were in my abdomen, my current in my chest. I think the chest implant is more sensitive when touched or pressed against. But it does get better over time. Fran
Guest guest
Dear Sis: Yes I was at first told, my pain was imaginary, then Kaiser took x-rays and found out the person had sewn the blooming lead wires to my actual nerve in my subclavia. Then I had a double mastectomy and that broke my wires. Upon trying to move the unit to my right sub-clavia, they found out that the old wires were so imbedded they couldn't remove them, and also the unit couldn't go in the right side. So, they disconnected my unit and I lay still for 4 days until I could go in for Open heart placement. It was deemed safer to continue using the waist 'pocket' and actually sew patches onto my heart and then feed the wires in. A very scary time. Pain, yes I still get pain. Guest guest
Yes. I have a great deal of pain my last implant date was 8/99. My device is on the right side of my chest. It has limited the mvement of my right arm and made sleeping difficult without lots of pillows for comfort. Lately I have had a great deal of pain it is in the center of my chest and radiates to my heart no one has been able to explian it and I was put on anibodics in case of an infection which a blood test revealed but they could not find the origin of it. Anyone else have anything similar. Blessings Sharon
