Hi Mandi and welcome!

I know how your

feeling. I was only diagnosed with hypothyroidism in June

even though I've probably had it for years. Before I

was diagnosed I thought it was all in my head. I've

never been much at moaning, so no one has really known

how I've been, and of course now when I know my aches

and pains (+++) are legitimate, it's hard to make

people understand.

I guess all we really can do

is educating the people around us ...you should have

a look at these

Welcome - welcome, the good thing about this

place is the opportunity getting to know so many great

people who (unfortunately) are suffering from the same

thing as you self.

I had a good chat with Marcy

her.....

Hope you'll level and soon feel

I am on the same amount of Levoxyl, and have

periods that are just OUT of control. But, I was

diagnosed w/migraines years ago, and for some reason the

pill caused more migraines. I can't seem to find a

happy medium between my Hashimoto's and my periods...

Hi ! Sorry no one replied to you...and

after I told you to come join :(

Hang in there

and hopefully when the meds get your thyroid under

control, the weight should start to level off. Now that my

levels are good, I feel so much better and I'm sure you

Congratulations on the birth of your baby!! Some

women do become hypo after the birth of a child. I

would not worry about a second opinion, let us know

what your doctor says. Ask him/her your TSH level.

When do you see the Doctor? It takes several weeks for

the meds to affect the body....so be prepared for a

subtle change. You won't feel better

overnight.

Take care and post us.......
Bev

Hi!

First...congrats on the new baby!! I

don't know how much help I can be, since I was just

diagnosed a week ago myself and I feel horrible as well.

Doc put me on Levoxyl and will have to increase the

dose according to my body. I have been told that it

will take up to 6 weeks for me to start feeling

better. AARGGHH!!! I would love to hear from you...maybe

we can get through this together!!. I've done a lot

of reading...
Webmd.com and mayoclinic.com had

some good articles. I wish you luck!!!
Take

Hi ,

Sorry you have to deal with this. The Goddess Diet is recommended on

http://thyroid.about.com/mbody.htm , where you will find a lot of great

information. I found the book 'The Thyroid Solution' by Dr. Ridha Arem to be

among the best of books available.

Knowledge is power.

Best of health,

<<Is it okay for pre-banders to come to the get togethers? Thank you..>>

Please do come! The get togethers I went to preband were very helpful for

me. I even went to the Slumber Party and Splash. Come and ask all the

questions you can think of!

welcome to the board !

sounds like you are one of the MANY women who probablyhave something

wrong with their thyroid butit doesn't show up on any tests.

I invite you to go back and read some of the posts on this board.

Then ask questions...never is a dumb question. :-)

welcome again!

> Hi there, I just joined this group. my name is and for the

past 2 and half years I have been trying to lose the weight I gained

when I was pregnant with my daughter. Under request, my doctor

checked my thyroid with a blood test and said it looked normal, but

today, once again, after reading an article and doing some research,

I am less and less convinced of that result and believe I am probably

hypoglycemic. I eat much less and much more healthier than almost all

my friends and family members, I exercise everyday, yet I don't lose

weight. I tried vegetarianism, high protein diets, anything.

The SouthEnd Soup Nites are held on the first Monday of every month.

Welcome Pam!

To All - We (the Northend Soup Night group) meet the second week of the month.

We don't have an official day, but it's a good idea. The problem is that some

people just can't make certain days and it's nice to do different days of the

week now and then. We've had very good turnout with Mondays.

How about we set the day as the 2nd Monday of the month. I'll check back when I

get home and see what others think of that plan. There is a poll on PNWB and if

people update that it would be helpful as well. Though we will have an

" official " date, there's nothing saying we can't move it now and then for

special occasions.

I'm headed out the door for my repair so I won't be back till late Friday.

Sorry for the fence type answer, but I promise to make a decision when I get

home.

Maybe the best way to get one would be to start one ourselves!

Is there anyone else near the Eastside that would like to get together?

.

Hi there... Nice to meet you!

I would keep getting tested. I had been tested for years and all the

doctors told me that my thyroid level was normal. It wasn't until I

finally found a great doctor, that I got some answers. He tested my

antibody level and found that that's where the problem was. I was

producing TONS of antibodies. That meant that I was dealing with some

serious thyroidism problems. Just because your thyroid level is

normal, it doesn't mean you don't have a problem.

Good luck... let me know if you have any questions!

Dear Shelby,

I chose the lap band for several reasons. Number one gastric bypass

seemed too radical and I have seen some bad results and what can happen with

bypass(I'm a nurse). The lap band has fewer complications and is easy able to

be reverse if the need so ever happens. God willing I won't need to take it

out ever.

I saw one of my friends get it done. She did not have the best follow

up since she got it done with Dr. Kuri and even though she has been

sucessfull I think she would of me more so with the proper follow up care.

She told me last week that her port was probably broken for a year. We really

more or less have two years before I body learns what we did to it and adjust

to the change.

As for me I'm going through Dr.Fox's office to Dr.Rumbaut (self-pay)

to Mexico on the 14th of Jan, 2003. It was more than if I went to Dr. Rumbaut

directly but I get okay follow up care and someone to call in case I get into

an ER where no one knows what a lap band is. Trust me nurses and doctors have

no clue. I have been educating the whole hospital for months now. Hope I do

well in surgery or I'm going to look like a dumbass (Oh,well won't be the

first time). One thing with Dr. Fox is he is really strict about what you

should and should not eat. He has pretty high standards. Mostly now I'm just

looking forward to doing things I have never been or would be able to do if

my weight had stay the same. Good luck and feel free to e-mail me with

further questions.

There are two drs in Kirkland doing banding. They are Drs.

Montgomery & Watkins. You can contact Jessie to get more information

at 425-899-4610. I would highly recommend either one of them.

,

I would also add that Dr. Fox/Srikanth's practice has you talking to

patient advocates who have the bypass and expect us to live like

bypass patients. (no milk, no sugar, your meal is supposed to be no

bigger than a shotglass, protein drinks as your source of protein

instead of food).

The practice in Kirkland doesn't have the dietary extremes and is

focused on the lap-band, not bypasses.

I went through Dr. Fox's practice to Dr. Rumbaut. If you'd like

anymore information, feel free to email me at montongost

(remove the spaces around the @ sign).
