Guest guest
Ted, Why did you get the BWP rather than a 2nd BTE if you didn't plan on using it? If the BWP has your maps on it, it might be a good idea to try it just to see if you still have a problem with that also. It might give a clue as to where the problem exists. Happy Hearing! Carol Boca Raton, FL N24C 3G left ear -12/11/01 N Freedom- right ear- implanted 3/01/06 activated 4/6/06 Re: The Freedom and Sweat , they were only going to send me a loaner processor, but I insisted they send me the contoller too, because I dont know whether the problem is in the processor, controller or battery cage. They sent me a loaner processor and controller and battery cage, no coil. So I purposely used a brand new coil and a brand new magnet too, out of my spares, so that nothing is the same. Except the problem :-) I've never used the body worn processor and dont want to, if possible, that's got rechargeables. Its probably useful to some people, but not to me. Guest guest
I'm getting confused and I'm NOT blond :-) I just had to go and have a look in the box to see what I do have. I have only ever used the BTE processor and controller. I dont have a body worn processor, just a body worn controller, that uses rechargeables. I cant try it with my processor now, because its gone away to be checked. Ted F. > > > > Ted, > > Do you have the mini processor? Guest guest
, I just had to go and have a look at what I do have. I have a body worn controller that uses rechargeables. Plus the BTE controller and processor that I have sent away. Sorry if I have confused anybody. I'll have to wait now, to see what Cochlear says, but personally I dont think its a battery problem. My guess is its a sweat related problem. Sweat getting inside the controller or processor. Its strange that no matter how many new batteries I use, it always comes up with H1 on thre LCD, which is flat betteries, according to the book. Is there a code for moisture inside the processor/controller, or isnt that supposed to happen :-) Ted F. > > Ted, > The mini uses only 2 disposable batteries and cannot use rechargeables. > The standard bte uses 3 disposables and can also use rechargeables. > > *---* *---* *---* *---* *---* > My mind not only wanders, it sometimes leaves completely. > & Dreamer Doll ke7nwn > Newport, Oregon > N24C 3G 8/2000 Hookup > rclark0276@... > http://webpages.charter.net/dog_guide/ >

Guest guest
Ted, I am also confused. All three types, standard, mini, and body worn use the same processor (top part where the coil attaches). The body worn uses a controller that is not behind the ear but uses the same processor. It also uses two AAA batteries. *---* *---* *---* *---* *---* Dogs love their friends and bite their enemies, quite unlike people, who are incapable of pure love and always have to mix love and hate. -- Sigmund Freud & Dreamer Doll ke7nwn Newport, Oregon N24C 3G 8/2000 Hookup rclark0276@... http://webpages.charter.net/dog_guide/
Guest guest
Ted, The body worn can use regular AAA batteries too. No codes for moisture intrusion that I have seen. Guest guest
Yes, thats correct, I have only just realised that :-) I said I had never used it. Its too late to try the body worn controller on my processor, because its gone away. But if I have problems with this loaner again, I'll try the other controller with it. I was sweating again, so I just put the stuff in the Dry & Store for a few hours, so I can go and listen to the news, later. It hadnt gone off yet, this time. I was trying to prevent it. Guest guest
I just realised that I do have one, you use the same processor for either controller :-) Ted F. > > Where I wrote BWP, it should have been body worn CONTROLLER, I dont > have a BWP. > > Ted F. >

Guest guest
I wasnt given a choice, Carol. I was just issued with a BTE and the body worn controller and some spares. I'm in Oz as you know and the Government paid for mine because I was on a disability pension. They might have been saving money, I dont know. My own processor and controller have been sent back to my audiologist at the Mater hospital now. They will send it to Cochlear or to the technician that deals with the problems. Guest guest
uh Ted, I'm getting confused about some of your answers. So, my question is: Which does your BTE battery cage hold 2 or 3 batteries? If it holds 3 batteries (Standard Size BTE), you can use the rechargeable batteries instead of the battery cage. However, if your battery cage only holds 2 batteries (Mini Size BTE), you have the mini processor which cannot use the rechargeable batteries. So, you either have the Mini Processor - OR - a misunderstanding about the Standard Size BTE and rechargeable battery capabilities. The Rechargeable Batteries are too tall (or fat) for the Mini processor. Since I've never seen one of the Mini Processors, I'd have to " assume " both too tall and too fat. ha Evon **************************************Check out AOL's list of 2007's hottest products. Guest guest
Not yet, I'll try it if the loaner gives up the ghost again. Ted F. > > have you tried using the BW controller with the loaner processor? >
Guest guest
I'm confused as well, Evon. I thought I had a body worn processor as well as the BTE one, but I have a body worn CONTROLLER. I have the BTE with the 3 small round batteries. Its my understanding, I would only be able to use the rechargeable batteries if I used the body worn controller. I dont particularly want to use the body worn, but I'll give it a try if the loaner packs it in again. They have forecast rain for the next week, so I might be OK :-) Ted F. > > uh Ted, I'm getting confused about some of your answers. Guest guest
But ... if you've got the full-sized BTE processor, why can you not use the rechargeables in that? I think that's what's got everyone confused here. I certainly use them in my BTE processor and my audie highly recommends it to save money in the disposble batteries. Guest guest
Ted, I have the standard-size Freedom that holds EITHER 3 disposable batteries inserted in a battery cage OR one rechargeable battery. The rechargeable battery doesn't require a battery cage. I use it everyday. The only time I use disposable batteries is when I'm on an overseas plane trip. You shouldn't have any trouble replacing the 3 disposables with the rechargeable, which will increase water resistance. e

Guest guest
Ted my man, There is ONE processor that will work in THREE differnt packages. Standard BTE, Mini BTE, and Body Worn. Those three ARE the controllers. One processor, 3 controllers. And each controller can be interchanged. usng just the one processor. Standard and Mini are BTEs. Body Worn is about the size of a ciggie lighter and uses two AAA batteries (not hearing aid batteries). Standard uses either three hearing aid batteries OR a rechargeable battery. Either can also be interchanged on the fly. Mini uses just two hearing aid batteries but cannot use a rechargeable battery. *---* *---* *---* *---* *---* Are you still here? The message is over. Guest guest
I'm missing something here e. Do you mean you can use the rechargeables in your BTE processor and still keep it on your ear? The only way I can see me being able to use rechargeables, is by using the body worn controller and thats too big to fit behind my ears :-) Ted F. > > Ted, > > I have the standard-size Freedom that holds EITHER 3 disposable > batteries inserted in a battery cage OR one rechargeable battery. Guest guest
Thats the problem Carol. I DON'T have a kit for the BTE, just one to use the rechargeables in the body worn controller. I didnt even know there was such a kit to use with the BTE. Thanks for clearing up some of the confusion and confirming that I am NOT going mad :-). Ted F. > > > > I'm confused as well, Evon. Guest guest
Thanks . Carol hit the nail on the head. I didnt even KNOW there was a kit to use the rechargeables in the BTE.
