How long has it taken to see positive results for folks?

I'm just curious how long it has taken folks to see positive results

from taking Lexapro. I'm on day 6 and up to my 10 mg a day dose for

the first day. I feel really tired and maybe not quite as intensely

anxious though I'm still really food avoidant - a major anxiety

symptom for me. It sort of sucks that you have to go through a couple

weeks of actually just feeling the side effects before the positive

effects start to show. A good friend of mine used Lex for depression

and it took her about a month to feel the good stuff. I'm just

curious what the time to feel effects in a positive way has been for

others, particularly regarding the anxiety symptoms.

Hi Lynn! I'm on day 11 and still waiting also. It's supposed to take at least

a couple of weeks, maybe more. My side effect is dizziness/fatigue. Hopefully

we'll both be seeing the positives really soon!

If I may ask, did you start taking it for depression or anxiety or

both? I've got both going on and really find the anxiety symptoms the

hardest to deal with. Hoping the Lex kicks in soon!

Yeah, I generally consider myself a pretty upbeat, positive, " can do "

type of person, but I think I've also been repressing and squashing a

lot of stuff I should have been dealing with and taking action on long

ago. I'm an artist and have spent my life feeling really bad about my

ability to live my life as such because it's not been an acceptable

path for my family. So, I've sort of been trying to live an identity

that isn't really mine and now it's time to stop that, which is

causing me a lot of situational anxiety. I know that I just need to

move through this patch, learn new ways to live my life and make it

through a big show of my greeting cards in May in New York City. I'm

taking the Lexapro to help me deal with these " edges " and hope that

over the next few months I'll be feeling more easy and happy about my

general state of life.

Hi Lynn,

I read your post and it hit home. I too, even after being in therapy for

over two years now still block things out to cope. I am slowly overcoming

that. Though sometimes, I would rather not, you know? Kinda like feeling

the hurt and pain all over again. But I know I have to move on.....We don't

always do things that are acceptable to our family. One with me was getting

married so early in life. 18....But it has been 20 years now, and I haven't

killed him yet ;)...

Wow and a big Greeting Card show? That sounds exciting!!!please do let us

know how it goes. I do some poetry writing. That is how I express my

feelings....I would love to see a sample if you would like to share??Hint

hint....

Take Care and I wish you the best of luck on your show...
