Guest guest
Anyone here ever taken Effexor? I just wondered what's ahead as far as that goes. Benefits? Sides? Guest guest
Hi Thea, I am on Wellbutrin Sr 300mg and Effexor XR 75mg. I know for me. I didn't have any sides from the Effexor. Actually I am loosing weight on it. What it has done for me is taken the edge off. The wellbutrin works good for depression and sex but not anxiety. Once it was added into my daily mix, my panic attacks dramatically decreased. I used to not leave the house. I was bordering on being housebound. I have slowly but surely been able to leave for short periods. I also take Klonopin 1mg 2x a day. Hope this helps.... Jacquie Re: Lex and I Are Through Anyone here ever taken Effexor? Guest guest
Hi, Jacquie. I don't think my pdoc would be caught dead prescribing me Welbutrin, because of my panic disorder. It almost feels psychotic or at least kind of hallucinatory to me, so I don't think the pdoc would prescribe that for me. I'd like the feeling of well being, but couldn't live with anxiety or panic. What is the Effexor like? How is it different for you than Lex or any other drug? I mean, for one thing Effexor is an SNRI, not an SSRI. Guest guest
Aloha Thea, Sorry for answering this late. I was initially put on Wellbutrin for smoking. Which I went from almost 2 packs a day down to maybe 2 a day. Anyway, Like a lot of folks here I stoppped Lex because Well it is a long story. I will go back and search for the message. Most of the the oldtimers here remember me writing why I went off Lex. When I stopped Lex and was only taking Wellbutrin, the Wellbutrin releived the depression. But didn't take care of my SAD. That is why I was prescribed the Effexor. The combo together works like a dream. Weight loss and actually being able to leave the house was a miracle for me. I honestly don't know what class Wellbutrin falls into. But from what I have heard it is not an SSRI. Effexor is different for me from Lex in the sense that I don't have all the side effects. I used to take 30mg of Lex in the am and by 4 or 5 I was depressed/frantic again. Short half life from what I am told. What I am on now last for me the whole day. I can get things accomplished. I even took my mom shopping to find a present for my dad for fathers day. That right there was proof enough that this was right for me. My SAD., We were in a Mcs after shopping, now I usually will go thru the drive thru, send someone in for me, or don't go at all. When I went after shopping with my Mom I didn't have the urge to bolt. My hands, weren't sweaty, the voices from everyone around wasn't getting loud in my brain. My heart waasn't going a mile a minute. I felt good!!For once in a looooooong time, I felt like myself again. Now I do carry klonopin if I can't stop an attack from coming on. But I use that sparingly now. I was at my weeekly p-doc appt yesterday. I felt really good. We talk about what was going on with me, but mostly, I didn't fret over it, I had solutions already to most of my problems. The p-doc was amazed. I still need him...But damn it feels good to feel real!!! Jacquie Re: Lex and I Are Through Hi, Jacquie.
