Guest guest
Hang in there: with some people it can take 2-3 weeks before they begin to feel the effects. I was one of the luckier ones: felt the effect of it within 10 days. I'm on 10 mg a day too, since January, and had trouble getting to sleep when I took it in the late afternoon. Now, I take it in the morning, right after my bowl of cereal at 6:30 (ick) a.m.! I too am in perimenopause, at 44. It's NO fun, but I refuse to do HRT. I'm going to try to get through it without taking anything for the symptoms: which so far are just hot flashes and mood swings. You know, there are a couple of good perimenopause groups at if you want to join them. I cannot recall their exact names at the moment, even though I am a member of both! E-mail me off-list at: dianespooky@... if you wish to know the exact names of the Perimenopause groups on (of course, there are a LOT on there, but I found these 2 groups to be the best after trial and error). --Diane Started Lexapro 11 days ago... Hello, I started Lexapro 11 days ago and have not noticed any results whatsoever. My doctor told me I would probably see results in six days. I'm on Lexapro to help with depression/anger associated with pre-menopause (I'm 50). I've suffered from mild to deep depression all my life. I considered suicide in my early twenties, definitely the darkest period. I've been chronically depressed my entire life, but not severely depressed. I've never been on any type of medication before, but I have been in therapy to deal with sexual abuse as a child. It was extremely beneficial and changed my life for the better. Anyway, I'm wondering what other's experiences are in noticing results. My doctor told me I'd be feeling great, but I'm not noticing anything at all!! I'm on 10mg once a day, I take it before bed. I had dry mouth and insomnia the first night, but no other side effects since then. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for your support. Guest guest
Hi, Trina. Hmm. 6 days? It's usually 4-6 weeks for the meds to begin to work. Guest guest
Hello Sometimes it can take maybe 6 weeks to feel a change and sometime, it just might not be the right med/dose for you It my take trial and error...talk to your doc and try to be patient. Sometimes the effects are very subtle and come on slowly...we all react differently! Jeff > Hello, > > I started Lexapro 11 days ago and have not noticed any results > whatsoever. Guest guest
Thank you so much for your feedback. I guess I was expecting fast results, based on what my doc told me. Anyway, I will be patient and see what happens! Hopefully, the " hissy fits " I seem to be going through all the time, will not be so extreme. That's what is bothering me the most. I also realize that it will take a conscious effort on my part to examine my thought processes and my patterns to change how I feel. I do not expect a pill to do that! I'm not in therapy, I don't feel I need to be, but I feel self-referral is important too. I was hoping that the Lexapro would help with motivating me to be more conscious of what " I " am creating. Any feedback on this would be appreciated too! A big THANKS to all who responded to my question. I truly appreciate your support.
