Guest guest
Could be a side effect....did you do a slow taper? What dose were you on and what are you at now?...OVER HOW LONG A PERIOD?? NEVER COLD TURKEY AN SSRI!!!!! I have been off lex for about 7 or 8 months now and experienced a little lightheaded feeling for a short time (tapered over a six week period)....now the sides are all gone. Of course it could also be your sinus infection....ask your Doc! Guest guest
I've heard those " jolts " described by others coming off of SSRIs. How long were you on Lex, and at what dosage? How fast did you wean off? Others have described the jolts as " brain zaps. " I'm going to cut my Lex dosage in half, I've decided: down to only 5 mg. a day. Will be interesting to see just what w/d symptoms I experience from THAT! --Diane Coming off lexapro Hello everyone, One month ago I was started on wellbutrin xl with the goal of getting off lexapro; I found lex was not working anymore and making me exhausted. Last thursday was the last time I took lexapro having gone through the process of weaning off of it appropriately. However, over the last few days I have been having brief but intense jolts of energy especially when I move fast in a single direction. This seems to be similar to what I experienced when I came off paxil ten years ago but I am not sure. HAS this happened to anyone else? Could this be the effect of wellbutrin kicking in now that the lex is out of the system?-any help would be great-thanks-t
Guest guest
I was taking 15 mg for the past year. I started to ween off the lexapro by decreasing 5mg every 5 days such that it took about 15 days to fully come off of lexapro. Yes, these very much seem like brain zaps but sometimes I feel it across my entire body. I plan to call the dr. tomorrow to ask about it-t
Guest guest
Ugh, indeed. You poor dear. I hope that's not how it will affect me, but who knows? Maybe I should cut the pill into quarters and go first down to 7.5 for a week or two, and THEN down to 5 mg. a day. So, that the cut of the dosage won't be 50%, which is quite a lot if you think about it. When I weaned off diazepam, I cut 2 mg. every few weeks and that was tolerable (barely!). I had my doctor's support, and she prescribed the diazepam to me in 2 mg. tablets so it was easy to figure out my cuts. --Diane Re: Coming off lexapro Diane, I just cut down to 5 mg. 4 days ago on my own and today was just horrible. I had to work at my computer all day--nauseous, dizzy, felt kind of out of my body. I don't know if I should have cut back so quickly or not. But I was on 10 mg. for 5 months so I didn't think it would be a big deal. Everyone is sooo different so maybe you won't notice any effect at all. See my doc on Friday--can hardly wait. Xanax isn't even helping the increased anxiety. Ugh. Deb Re: Coming off lexapro I've heard those " jolts " described by others coming off of SSRIs. How long were you on Lex, and at what dosage? Guest guest
Yes, please do it slowly. I guess I shouldn't have taken it upon myself, but when I weaned off Zoloft I had nooooo problem. Just goes to show you how meds are so different. And, of course, Paxil was the drug from hell for me. Be safe! Guest guest
Thanks folks, from what it sounds like I probably came off lexapro too quickly by decreasing from 15mgs by 5 every 5 days. I probably should have tappered more slowly...I had been on lex for over a year so my body probably was quite set with it. I remember that when I came off of paxil years back, the withdrawal was so bad for me that I had to go on Elavil for a brief stint to control the brain zaps.-t
Guest guest
hello, I've been off for a week and the dizziness is quite annoying, has it gone away for you yet? -Andi > I'm getting off Lexapro, been dizzy for a week, is that typical or is > it my sinus infection > >
