I think I will start tonight taking Lexapro. How is it that I was taking 25 mgs of zoloft and 5 mgs will be eqivalent to that? How have others done so far on this drug? Anyone switch from zoloft like me? Anyone also take xanax too? M Thanks
Guest guest
The reason I am trying the lexapro instead is because I have tried higher doses of zoloft 50 mgs and did not do well at all. I got the side effects all over again. She said if I had come to her in the first place she would of given me lexapro and not zoloft. Guest guest
Hi. I switched from zoloft to lexapro over a year ago when zoloft pooped out on me after 7 years.I found zoloft to be the most calming of all the SSRI's I have tried, although lexapro is about the same. I have ocd as well as depression and ocd requires much higher dosages of ssri's than does other conditions. I was on 200 mgs of zoloft(and i was 98 lbs at the time..not anymore)for 7 years. What I am wondering is why your Doc is not opting to raise your zoloft first, as a first line approach since you have been on it a year and are still at a relatively low dosage. When I am symptomatic on a medication my doctor always opts to raise my dosage before we give up on it and opt for a new choice. but you need to do what you are most comfortable with. Also, one cannot compare dosages between SSRI " S. Equivalences do not work that way. 5 mg of one drug may equal 50 mgs of another. good luck to you!
