Guest guest
My pdoc called me back this morning. Not only did I not have anything to worry about, but he said I should just continue taking 60 since I haven't had any adverse effects and he was considering upping my dose anyway. He also added Wellbutrin XL (150mg for a week then 300mg). I have heard lots of good things about Wellbutrin and I'm excited to start taking it. I feel like the lex has helped my OCD, but I'm still depressed and have been gaining weight lately, so hopefully adding the Wellbutrin will help both of those issues. -

Guest guest
, I'm glad the doctor told you that you had nothing to be worried about. The only thing I was concerned about was if you were to STOP your increased dose. Lexapro is something you have to be weaned off slowly of. I'm was on 10mg of Lexapro for six weeks when my doctor added 30 mg of WellburtinXL. After three weeks, I had a SEVERE allergic reaction to the Wellbutrin. I broke in the most horrible case of hives. I was covered from head to toe in red, burning, itchy welts. I had to go to the ER as it happened on a Saturday night. By Sunday I couldn't bear it and went to the ER. The following day I went to see my doctor and he immediately took me off of BOTH the Lexapro and Wellbutrin even though we knew it had to be the WellbutrinXL. It took three weeks to get into my system and that's when the allergic reaction happened. Anyway.........the next week was horrible for me. I was hallucinating, couldn't tell reality from dreams and felt like someone was trying to poison me. I'm almost sure it was the Wellbutrin still in my body but I was told it could also be from being taken off the Lexapro cold turkey. That's not suppose to happen. My doctor's intern knew this when I called about it and told me to get BACK on the Lexapro. It's been two weeks back on the Lexapro.........he doubled my dose to 20mg/day and I am feeling much better. I'm also looking into alternative medicine using herbal, aroma, relaxation, mediation, reflexology treatments as well as Tai Chi and yoga. Good luck! ~J > My pdoc called me back this morning. Guest guest
Wow, that sounds like a terrible experience. I know not to go cold turkey on the Lex. In fact, when I realized I'd been taking 60 instead of 30 I only took 40 that day and waited to see what the doctor said. I had terrible headaches all day long. The next day I took 60 again and they were gone. My pdoc also warned me about Wellbutrin possibly causing a rash as one of its side effects. So far I've noticed no change (positive or negative) from the Wellbutrin, but its only been a couple of days. - > > My pdoc called me back this morning.
