Dot,

Welcome to our group! All of us at this group have "funny eyes".. it's the ones who's eyes match that are weird!! We've all had the comments "I had a dog (or cat) that looked like you once"... but all in all most of the commments I get are very positive.. "beautiful!!" "cool!".. I love my eyes and always have. My family always made feel that my eyes were special and beautiful.. not at all anything embarassing.. I idolized my older brother and he loved my eyes.. was always pointing them out to his friends.. telling them his sister had the cooolest eyes.

I have 3 children and 2 grandkids.. none with heterochromia.. (Did have a cat that looked like me once!!!) My daughter is expecting a son next month.. I will be watching his eyes closely and keeping my fingers crossed.

Living with Heterochromia

I have just joined the group this evening, having lived with HC since birth. I live in Scotland and would love to talk to people who have this.I find the condition quite embarassing and hate when strangers comment upon it, even though they do tend to say that is very unusual!!!My 4 year old told me that "I had funny eyes!!"One of my eyes is brown and the other is green with a brown flash through it, and they are very noticable.Hope to hear from soneone soon,Love Dot

Hi Marcia, Great to hear from you. It is great after all these years to know that there are people who can relate to the same thing. I have given up listing comments that people make, and thiose who have known me dont say anything anymore, but when someone new meets me the first thing they say is in relation to my eyes and I get so embarassed!!! I am glad to say that my two daughters have both eyes the same colour and my 4year old grandson's are the same. However he seems to think that his Gran is a 'Good witch!!' Do you have any other traits.... i.e white streak in your hair? I have a mallen streak at the front which thankfully I can dye. Where abouts in the country are you? It would be great to get the group to meet up somewhere central for us all. But that may not be possible as I have noticed that there are many

people from all over the world. Hope to speak to you soon. Luv Dee xxxxMarcia <mbryan@...> wrote: Dot, Welcome to our group! Dee/Dot,

I am from the Great NW--USA...The State of Washington-- about 150 miles south of Seattle-- across the river from Portland, Oregon.

I love my eyes and love it when people notice and comment. It is a great conversation starter and I love talking to people. I am surprised that some people notice immediately and believe it or not, I have known some people for years before they notice my eyes..and usually it is someone else that comments on it and they will say, "REALLY??!! I've never noticed".. go figure.. I am actually keeping my fingers crossed that my Grandson does have his Granny's special eyes.

I have had coffee with one member of our Group.. Ranen lives in Portland and we had a fun time meeting and discussing HC> Did you realize that July 12th is "National Different Colored eye day"? That would be a great day for an international reunion.

So glad you joined our group.

Marcia

Hey Dorothy,

My name is Deborah. I joined this group about a month ago myself

and have not talked to anyone myself. I thought I would reply to

you . I am 48 yrs old and was born with one blue eye and one brown

eye. I know exactly how you feel about being embarrased when people

stare at you. I have found the older I get the more I appreciate my

special eyes. I have had so many people say they would love to have my

eyes if they could. Always remember you are very special because of

your eyes. I think about 1 in every million people are born like us,

which does make us very special.

I will go for now but I will write back if I hear from you. By

the way I live in the U.S. in Texas.

> Take care,

Deborah
