Guest guest
Hi everyone, I get many questions about what and how I eat. I thought I would forward this on to you now. The key is to try not to eat so much that you stay full for longer than a couple of hours at a time. I eat a ton of potatoes in a week. I eat one very large baked potato or a few small ones cut up and baked with Rosemary and virgin olive oil, along with carrots and sometimes asparagus, then I will have salmon, chicken breast, or something like that for dinner. I eat a lot. I am not a tiny eater. I eat a granola bar and a Sobe Energy drink for breakfast and then a few hours later a small snack, or a Sobe Wisdom drink and then a tuna or chicken sandwich and some Tortilla chips for lunch. I don't drink with my meals except, for the Sobe in the morning. I have a small snack between lunch and dinner and I will have some little snack a couple of hours later. I like Fig Newton's or low salt popcorn or Snackwell cookies, usually just one or two. I drink water all day long. I love fresh carrots for snacks, or celery stuffed with pimento cheese, bananas, apples, usually fruit or veggies. I do occasionally have a good old snickers bar if that is what I am craving. It takes care of the craving and then I don't eat ten. I love pumpkin pie and when I make it, I eat more than my share, but then I cut back on the other snacks. I may even use that as my breakfast. I don't believe in deprivation. I hope this helps. Take care, Rashelle
Guest guest
Hi Rashelle. Is the potato, plus carrots or asparagus AND the chicken or salmon ALL for dinner? Also, at what times do you eat? Thank you. God bless, Bonnie *******************************************With God, ALL things are possible*******************************************
Guest guest
Rashelle, You pig!!! LOL! I have to agree with you though that you need to eat. Our bodies need fuel to make it through the day. When we starve ourselves for a better body, we are only causing damage to our bodies in the long run. I did this for most of my life and I won't do it anymore. I want my body to heal and to be healthy. I do eat more now than ever, mainly veggies, fruits, and chicken and fish for the majority of the time. It is fun to experiment with different foods and I am finding I like a great many things that I had never heard of before. I am doing what works best for me and I do carry healthy snacks with me, especially at work. I get drained in the afternoons and I need to eat a little snack for a pick me up. I also do a few LL breaths and I feel great after that. It makes a big difference in my life :-). Thanks, Michele S.
Guest guest
Hi Bonnie, Yes, the potatoes, carrots and asparagus, and the chicken or salmon, about 1/4 pound is all for dinner. I told you I don't diet. I usually eat dinner about 6 or 7 in the evening. My body is never, never in starvation mode. I am eating a fig newton right now. I also keep a bottle of water with me at all times. Even when I travel, I carry a bottle of water with me. I hope this helps. Take care, Rashelle Hi Rashelle. Guest guest
Praise the Lord sister! I am so glad to hear this!!! I now feel like I have been set free and I can really do this. I usually end up eating supper around 6 or 7 and was so scared it would mess me up. I also was worried that I wasn't doing the breath right as I didn't pah real hard yet I still got a gasp. Sometimes more, sometimes less, but a gasp. I was thinking that the BF breath and the LL breath was the same except for the holding for a count of 3 before pahing, but it was explained to me that I don't have to inhale as harsh or pah as harsh as I did with BF. And since I still get a gasp, I figure I must be doing OK. You have no idea how great this is to me. BF was such a chore for me and I'm so glad that just because I can't inhale like a vacuum cleaner and sound like I'm dying when I pah, that it will still work me. Once again Rashelle, thank you SO much for being here and for taking all the time you take with all of us. Thank you for LL and for being you. I'm looking for my Workout tape#1 to arrive today and I'm really excited about it. Please know that I'm so very thankful to you. More than I can put in words. And thank you Gail, Tami & Kate for the help on the breath. All of you are the BEST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Love & God bless, Bonnie PS I don't mean to sound like I'm bashing BF. I'm not. I know it does work for some. It was just hard for me and really didn't help that I could ever see until I added walking. So it's LL for me!!!!!!!!! FREEDOM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Guest guest
I love to dress Landon in baby blue. Blue is definitely his color. It looks great with his clue eyes and platinum blonde hair. Don't majority of the kids with Ds tend to have straight hair too? Just curious, I have only seen a few kids with Ds that have curly hair. I always wanted my kids to have straight hair. I have naturally curly hair and I have battled all my life with hair. I got my wish for straight hair with Landon and Ashton is growing a head full of curls. The first thing I said when the geneticist was talking to us and we found out he had Ds was I might get that straight hair wish. I considered it a definite perk! Oh well, I did get half my wish. Guest guest
We figured (and everyone we know) our girls would have thick and curly hair, as both Todd and I do. It seems to be going toward straight. The odd part is it still hasn't decided on a color. I'm very fair so I never really thought about colors for the girls, right now everythings pink. bottle feeding/Sandy > > > > Hi Sandy and everyone! Guest guest
Hi! A term that is used to describe eating problems that involve a limited choice of foods and problems with food due to smells, textures, etc... is called oral aversion. This is considered a sensory issue. It can be treated by an OT who specializes in Sensory Integration Dysfunction. My son also has this problem. Vicki In Ky. I asked around to see if anyone present was available to facilitate this group of parents for the second night, but never found anyone. I will continue to look into this....... wendy, in canada. wb4@... ________________________________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com
Guest guest
Hi Vicki~ I am so curious! Has your child had OT for eating problems? Thank you for the info on terms, it will help me relate more to the therapists when we start. May I pick your brain now as to how it works...has it worked? I am amazed that none of the many mental and health care providers I have consulted has ever mentioned that. I will certainly try to learn more about it now that it has a name. I have really been up against a brick wall to date. He has an appointment with the s Hopkins short stature clinic next week, but of course his size is a result, not a cause, of his problem. Judy " W. Guest guest
Judy and others, I've been following the discussion of OCD eating problems. My child has had several eating-related troubles: gruesome images in her mind that take away her appetite, vague OCD " rules " that she can't eat this or that--usually a favorite food, or that she's only " allowed " to eat when she's not hungry. No outright contamination stuff yet that I can tell. Through all this we've managed an adequate intake of calories, but she's fallen off her growth curve for height and hasn't gained any weight in almost a year. This is a cause for concern whether OCD is involved or not. Do I understand your post to mean you believe your child is short *due* to OCD eating problems and inadequate nutrition? I have been kicking around the idea that SSRIs or something about OCD's effect on the brain may affect children's growth. My child's growth patterns were fine until OCD onset. However I haven't been able to find anything linking OCD or SSRI use and stunted growth. Please let us know what you find out at s Hopkins. Kathy R. in Indiana Re: eating > Thanks for your support.
