Today I kept telling myself to get a drink of water and get busy doing something instead of stuffing food in my mouth. I've just been OVER the TOP the last few days. Guest guest
Hi ; No, you're not just rambling! I understand perfectly. I definitely have my good days and bad days. I'm also taking Nexium and I haven't had one spasm in the past few months. I eat every two hours and find that if I wait longer between meals, I have a very difficult time eating the next time I try. I always have one cup of creamy coffee around 7:00 A.M. to start my day. Around 9:00, I have about 3 crackers and a slice of Havarti cheese with a glass of milk. At 11:00, I have a bowl of creamy soup. At 1:00, more soup etc. Occasionally, I am able to eat fish and chicken. I can't eat hamburger at all. It must be the texture, I have no idea. Also, no pasta. I can eat oatmeal and cream of wheat, baked potatoes and I eat a lot of vegetables. I have to have all my vegetables cooked well and mushed. I am healthy and energetic if I follow this routine, but only then. I lose weight really fast, so eating is a chore, not a pleasure. I take my Nexium at 7:00 and don't eat anything after that. I also drink a lot of water and milk. Any way, I hope you are having a better day today. Guest guest
Hi , I know about those days. Hopefully you are being seen by a physician. If you know that things are getting worse then you should call him or her. Maybe it's time for a reevaluation. Have you had a dilatation? Surgery? or other treatments? Achalasia appears to go through many stages and I don't envy where you are right now. But be assured that it can get better, you just need to try something new. Guest guest
Hi ; I still can't figure out how you can possibly drink wine. I eat crackers to absorb the stomach acid. I actually know when it's time to have a few crackers. I have tried drinking wine in the past, but it has caused me so much burning I lost everything in my stomach. I guess it's because everything I eat has to be so bland. Guest guest
> Do you really have to eat 6 meals a day? Can you eat 3 meals and a > snack(veggies or fruit)in between. Has anyone tried Weight Watchers > with the work out program? The goal is to keep your blood sugar/insulin at steady levels. If you eat a meal and then eat a carb as a snack that snack is going to cause an insulin spike. That's why you always need to eat protein at the same time. The idea of eating six times a day is to give your body a steady, even intake of balanced food. If your " snacks " were nearly the same size as your three " meals " -- since they both have protein and carbs -- you'd be eating too many calories most likely. If it helps, you could think of it as three *small* meals and three large snacks. Make them all about the same size, but I know we think of eating different foods for meals and snacks. Weight Watchers will not provide you with nearly enough protein for nearly anything, let alone working out at BFL levels. Its also very high carb and it won't steady your insulin. This element of BFL is very important to losing fat. Changing your carb intake, changes your body chemistry (lowering your insulin response) -- this is why people say 80% of BFL is eating. Some people have had success with BFL combined with a low carb WOE, but if you haven't done either one before, switching to the moderate carb, balanced meals of BFL probably should be your first try. Guest guest
went through some crazy food habits when he was little but they changed frequently. When he was about a year old he wouldn't let anyone but his sister feed him, with a spoon, and she was in school all day. You can imagine how that went. For several years, he would only eat ice cream for breakfast. Then there came a stage when he wouldn't eat anything that COULD be a vegetable but that too passed. Now he'll eat most anything that doesn't get him first. He's not too much on sweets and will only eat fruit that comes in small pieces, like grapes. He'll eat peaches(loves them) and others but they have to be cut up for him. Or melon, has to be cut up. His dad was the same way, some things were too much trouble. But for I will do it. For snacks he likes yogurt, (lo cal) Yuck. And juice boxes, pickles, All really healthy foods. He has been eating quite a few cookies, the Chips Ahoy soft and chewy chocolate chips. But since he's been losing weight I don't object to that. We do everything lo fat and lo cal and that helps. I switched him to 1% milk some years ago and he will drink skim without noticing but I don't like it. And neither does the cat, he likes a few sips out of 's glass ( I know, shouldn't do that, but they are both happy with it and the cat doesn't drink enough to give him his own) but the cat doesn't bother if it's skim. I get a kick out of that. He's more discerning than . Jessie

Guest guest
I don't know what I have done but I am lucky that Vickie does not seem to be fixated on certain foods... now she has her favorites like any kid but she seems willing to try almost anything... somethings come right back out but I am happy she at least tries... The only thing I can say I do is insisting that she at least try everything on her plate... she doesn't have to eat it all... That was the same thing I did with Webb also and this boy doesn't order soda in resturants, he prefers water.... You should see Vickie go to town on Won Ton noodles and lo mein.... she also does broccoli, rice, pasta, potatoes, all meats, plus the normal sweets my hubby tends to buy... can't send that man shopping without him coming home with more snacks then I tend buy... for breakfast is is normally eggs, reg oatmeal, sometimes with applesauce, nutrigrain bars or left over dinner... she is trying bacon but is not big on it yet... I am lucky she also likes bananas, blueberries, pears, apples, peaches, (sometimes) and grapes... I guess I don't know if this is unusual based on what I am hearing in this thread or what.. ann mom to Webb 13 and puberty, and Vickie 4 (ds) Re: eating In a message dated 7/21/2004 12:09:11 PM US Mountain Standard Time, JB66111@... writes: > For > snacks he likes yogurt Oh, Maverick likes only LEMON yougurt. Guest guest
When I first brought home he was 15 months old. He'd spent his three months being tube fed, then the next 6 on bottled milk before finally being weaned onto liquidised congee at about 9-10 months. When I got him he was onto congee with bits in it or sago. I gave him what I gave to my other kids as babies, real food but mushed up. I made him very poorly! The poor kid was desperate for real food and gobbled it up but his system was so used to tasteless sludge that it couldn't cope! So we went back to congee (but better tasting!) and introduced real food over the next few weeks and he hasn't looked back. There is very little he won't at least attempt to eat, celery is probably the only thing and as I have a total loathing of the stuff I can live with this! He does have trouble with meat but will chew and chew until all the flavour is gone and then spit it out! He often turns down sweets but never turns down crisps or chips (chips and fries). He is by far the easiest of my three children to feed. sue wong > > I guess I don't know if this is unusual based on what I am hearing in this > thread or what.. > > ann > > mom to Webb 13 and puberty, and Vickie 4 (ds) > -----
