Guest guest Posted May 12, 2006 Report Posted May 12, 2006 Hi , The American Revolution was in 1776. Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) members trace their ancestors back that far. E. Lee, and the American South were involved in the Civil War, which was in the 1860s. The war to prove that States' Rights really aren't what everyone thought they were. Southern part of the U.S. broke off and started their own country, called the Confederate State of America. 4 year war was fought to " reunite " the country. But it was proof positive that States' Rights is truly a false idea. You might watch Cold Mountain, with Kidman and Jude Law and Zelwegger. It's about the Civil war. Interesting casting, Australian, and English person in 2 of the leads. Thought the movie would never end. Literally lasted almost as long as the Civil War itself!! First fleet. Sounds like something to be proud of. Punishment back then was a LOT worse than it is now. The Original I'm not actually a true blue Aussie I'm afraid. I came from the UK about 9 years ago! I have taken out citizenship though and am a dual citizen. I have heard of the Daughters of the Revolution though - is it something to do with the American South and General E Lee etc? Quote
