Beth,

You are quite welcome. Since I dont hang out in the deaf circles, i

dont run into the attitudes, If I did run into someone who " abused " me as

you put it, and ask him " what is your problem, you didnt get the CI, I did,

so why are you feeling so threatened by it? "

Yes dare these people to live in a " hearing only " society and ask them

what now. NO accomodations. Turn off the closed captioning, throw out the

TTY,

Sigh.

Beth,

I'm sorry for being so late in responding to this post, but I'm glad I could

help. :) Please let us know what your instructor says about the replies

and I wrote. Hopefully he/she will learn to accept that CIs are a

perfectly justified choice for people who are severely hoh or deaf just as

oralism, total communication and sign are.

and Beth,

Exactly right on the spot. The choice made is right only for the person

who makes it, not for anyone else. I fail to see why another person would

be filled with resentment because I made a choice that affects me and me

only.

I just read that last year 4,153,237 people got married in the U.S. I don't

want to start any trouble, but shouldn't that be an even number?

Beth,

Hopefully your classmates who do not accept CIs will learn to think about

them in a different way after taking this course. Good luck on your paper!
