Guest guest Posted April 26, 2006 Report Posted April 26, 2006 Hi Dora, Debit is taken directly out of your checking account. It IS confusing now that I think about it. Because that same card that you use as a debit (you have to punch in your PIN number) can also be used as a credit card, and it STILL comes out of your checking account. lol The only real difference is putting in your PIN or not, and signing the sales slip or not. Date: Wed, 26 Apr 2006 09:08:08 -0500 Yesterday I was shopping.I bought some socks at a department store.I handed them ,along with my credit card ,to the cashier. Then the questions began. Do you want to contribute to autism research? No(I feel that the store should take a % out of sales ..not ask the customer to donate} Do you want your receipt in your bag?I said " yes " Then...this was a new one to me...Is it a credit or debit? I had her repeat that as i wasn't sure I had understood her correctly.I had!! I thought for awhile .then said it's a credit isn't it?? Then again she asked " Do you want your receipt in your bag?I said " I already told you " YES " Then " What is your telephone #?I gave her that. I said " you certainly ask alot of questions!! " I was puzzled about the debit or credit question so i asked HER what the difference is.She said..if it is a debit I didn't need to sign a slip.If a credit I needed to sign. Shopping gets more confusing every day!! Love Dora Dora Weber Nucleus Volunteer Advocate dora_weber@... Bilateral N22-96 N24C-01 Cochlear Otosclerosis Quote
Guest guest Posted April 26, 2006 Report Posted April 26, 2006 Dora, I agree, let the store make the contributions., Sheesh, that would ruffle my feathers. Is it a credit or debit card? I usually beat them to the answer and tell them. But, there are some who suggest signing the debit receipt as well, to avoid the possibility of anyone stealing your PIN #. Also, I check the receipt to make sure the card number is masked. If it isnt, the store had damn well better fix that asap. Shopping gets really bad when they start installing touch screens that are not accessible. That is when I tell them I am signing the debit receipt. *---* *---* *---* *---* *---* Don't go around saying the world owes you a living. The world owes you nothing.
