Guest guest Posted December 16, 2006 Report Posted December 16, 2006 and Deb C, Am I detecting some impatience here? LOL We made it to the appt and what a nice day it turned out to be. There are still many people in the Portland area without power but we ahd no problems. And , we had a great lunch at my friend's Italian bakery. Oh you want to know what happened with the Freedom mapping, is that it? What is there to tell, its just another day in the life of.... Ok ok ok. LOL I am still getting used to this new processor but like it. I asked for an open prigram, got two of those, got ADRO and Beam. On one open program the t coil is 100%, the other is a mix. I used ADRO in the car on the way home and found it helped. Its going to take time. Today all I did was play catch up and do some baking. LOL Tomorrow I go to a Christmas party so will definitely give the Freedom a workout. So. at long last, I got the Freedom. Am quite impressed with the way its designed. I hardly even know its sitting on my ear. The controls are easy but still not used to using them. Guest guest Posted December 16, 2006 Report Posted December 16, 2006 , Thanks for the update! Sounds like you had a busy day! I'm glad you like the Freedom! Like you, I also found that it took some time to become used to the controls, but after awhile, it was old hat. I'll be curious to know what you think about BEAM once you've had the opportunity to try it. I've already noticed more benefit thanks to the higher volume setting than I had previously. However, I'm still not sure if I want to replace BEAM with Whisper. I'll have to do more experimentation. A mocha sounds perfect! Make mine banana please! Guest guest Posted December 16, 2006 Report Posted December 16, 2006 , It aint over yet. It wont be long before I test Bean out. I was looking at the sens settings tonight and see that ADRO and Beam are at 6 while volume is at 9. The open programs at at 12/9. I think. Its in the oven now so cant check. No no, not that oven, the Dry n Store. LOL In all the years I used the 3G, just this year found Whisper to work well in a quiet setting. Its going to take time and opportunity to try all the enhacnements and see which ones deserve a program slot. Guest guest Posted December 16, 2006 Report Posted December 16, 2006 Deb, As nice as it was yesterday. many many were still (and still are tonight!) without power in the Portland area. One would think the coastal areas would be more prone to trouble. Anyway, yeah The Main Event. Barbara Streisand. Guest guest Posted December 17, 2006 Report Posted December 17, 2006 Do you mean that your ADRO and BEAM are at sensitivity 6? Some people like the lower sens for BEAM. I am not one of them! I don't know why you've got such a low sens for ADRO unless it's just part of your revving up into the new processor. I bet you'll want more sens before long. We'll see, eh? Guest guest Posted December 17, 2006 Report Posted December 17, 2006 Deb, I am not certain that sens was initially set to 6 for Beam and ADRO. I messed with ADRO on the return trip home and could have set it lower. Will ask my audi. I didnt play with Beam tho so 6 may be the magic number for both. ADRO will get a workout today. *---* *---* *---* *---* *---* Stupidity is NOT a handicap. Guest guest Posted December 17, 2006 Report Posted December 17, 2006 Hi , If Beam seems a little too soft for you, you may need to raise your sensitivity just a little and see if your audie can raise your volume some more. I think 9 is the max, so you won't be able to raise it on your own. I found that I needed more volume than normal when in Beam. I would suggest getting your audie to set your normal volume on 6, or lower. Then you will have room to go up when needed. Guest guest Posted December 17, 2006 Report Posted December 17, 2006 Lynn, Yes volume is 0 to 9 and sens is 0 to 20. I will definitely be pushing it for the next few weeks til I go back for another mapping. *---* *---* *---* *---* *---* Variation Law: If you change lines (or traffic lanes), the one you were in will start to move faster than the one you are in now (works every time). & Dreamer Doll (Guide Dawggie) Newport, Oregon N24C 3G 8/2000 Hookup rclark0276@... http://webpages.charter.net/dog_guide/ Quote
Guest guest Posted December 17, 2006 Report Posted December 17, 2006 Deb, My audi also programmed ADRO and BEAM at the default setting of 6. My open programs are set at 12. However, I'm free to make adjustments to volume or sensitivity if desired. Guest guest Posted December 17, 2006 Report Posted December 17, 2006 Hey !! Congrats on your Freedom... The BEAM sensitivity is usually set at 6 as the default point but you can change to what you LIKE!!! My ADRO is set at 12. Have fun with your new Xmas present. Guest guest Posted December 17, 2006 Report Posted December 17, 2006 Yes I should have added that I tried out the Beam at default of 6, because that was what was " hot " a few months ago. I never liked it and my audie told me that it's not as consistently preferred as once thought. So I just had mine put back at 12 and I lower it if need be. As for ADRO at 6 sens, I cannot speak to that except to say it would be way too soft for me! Guest guest Posted December 17, 2006 Report Posted December 17, 2006 Deb, I haven't had the chance to experiment with ADRO at a higher setting than 6, but I'd be curious to know if a higher setting works out better for me. I set my C levels two notches higher than " normal, " so the default setting of 6 might work just fine. At any rate, it will be fun experimenting! <smile> Left ear - Nucleus 24 Contour Advance with Freedom BTE Implanted: 12/22/04 Activated: 1/18/05 Right ear - Nucleus Freedom Implanted: 2/1/06 Activated: 3/1/06 Deafblind/Postlingual Quote
Guest guest Posted December 17, 2006 Report Posted December 17, 2006 The nice thing about this is that once we know what setting works best, we can have the audi reset the map to use that as default. I just need to get used to this added flexibility after 5 years with the 3G, LOL *---* *---* *---* *---* *---* Some people have one of those days.
