Guest guest Posted December 3, 2006 Report Posted December 3, 2006 That's great,Vivian. I can hear the birds when I'm out side but can't tell the different in them. Maybe it will be better this coming Spring, as last spring was my first spring in 43 years to hear anything. Quote
Guest guest Posted December 3, 2006 Report Posted December 3, 2006 Can you tell what " song " is playing on the music box or do you just hear it as sound? I go to the symphony with my husband for him it is a pleasure for me it is a listening exercise have you tried listening to classical music and what is your experience with it? Vivian Quote
Guest guest Posted December 3, 2006 Report Posted December 3, 2006 Deb, might work but I doubt it. LOL I collect music boxes and no ones house is more dusty than my own. LOL patsy Quote
Guest guest Posted December 3, 2006 Report Posted December 3, 2006 Hi and patsy I also have a music box collection which I started 10 yrs ago after my 1st cI.I have lost count of how many I have.I also have a bell collection that i kept in my hutch for yrs. After I received my 1ST CI i took them out of the hutch and they are now scattered all over the house. For Christmas the first yr i received my CI I got 2 bird clocks and a bird watch for Christmas.Needless to say our house is filled with music ,bells ringing and birds singing.Sometimes ,when my Gsons are over,we hurriedly wind up all the music boxes and they all play at once. This is one of the favorite things to do at Grandmas house!!I love it!!Also ,when I dust,I wind up each music box as the table or whatever it sits on gets dusted Dora Weber Nucleus Volunteer Advocate dora_weber@... Guest guest Posted December 3, 2006 Report Posted December 3, 2006 In case any of you may be interested, I recently purchased a unique clock called the DreamTime which sounds several different chimes to announce the time. When you touch the disc, it will chime the hour and minutes using two tones -- one pitch for hour and minutes from 1-9 and a different pitch for ten minute increments. For more information about the DreamTime, visit: http://www.sonic.net/chronart/dreamtime.html Left ear - Nucleus 24 Contour Advance with 3G Implanted: 12/22/04 Activated: 1/18/05 Right ear - Nucleus Freedom Implanted: 2/1/06 Activated: 3/1/06 Quote

Guest guest Posted December 3, 2006 Report Posted December 3, 2006 , I heard about this clock from someone on a blindness related e-mail list. She found the clock while doing a Google search, purchased it and thought it would be a wonderful clock for the blind. Once I receive mine, I'll let you know how I like it! Guest guest Posted December 3, 2006 Report Posted December 3, 2006 , According to the website, the DreamTime flashes in several different colors for hours and minutes. It also says the lights used are 3 times brighter than normal ultra brights. With that being the case, I would think this clock would be perfect for someone with low vision. Guest guest Posted December 3, 2006 Report Posted December 3, 2006 , Yes its good for one with low vision. But one must have good concentration too, to tell time with this device. Guest guest Posted December 3, 2006 Report Posted December 3, 2006 , LOL! Knowing me, it will take at least a month before I understand what time it is. <grin> Left ear - Nucleus 24 Contour Advance with 3G Implanted: 12/22/04 Activated: 1/18/05 Right ear - Nucleus Freedom Implanted: 2/1/06 Activated: 3/1/06 Quote
Guest guest Posted December 4, 2006 Report Posted December 4, 2006 , From what I read about this clock, a month is not unreasonable. It certainly is not a typical clock, has no clock face let alone the hour and minute hands. Guest guest Posted December 4, 2006 Report Posted December 4, 2006 , This clock sounds similar to a talking clock I own which announces the time in a British male voice and has no visual display (since it's designed for the blind and visually impaired). I have at least 20 different talking clocks in my collection and 4 talking calculators. I guess you could say I'm never at a loss to know the time. LOL!
