is. i dont use whipser to r colid and is alwys there, no matter if i am room

with frig microwave or frig. its jsut there no matter what im doing where i am.

someone told me some prelings have a humm or sound of motor running in

background and lasts for few months. i have it too its not alwys there but

mostly when i have it on loud as i can.

my ci deaf preling freinds tell me it goes away after a few months, sometimes

after first 8 months. so i hope so. it can be annoying if u think about it. i

am geting used to it. i need to ask my audie in few weeks if thats normal or

what. i m thinking its part of adjustment to loud noises becase at lower volume

its not there.

by the way i ve been only hooked up three weeks so am a newbie :)

Hi Joni

is a newbie and an oldie I guess. He is 10 years old, had

his first implant at three and went bilateral last year when he was

9. He only has a W setting on his new side as his first side he

still has an N22 (waiting for the 3G).

Yesterday I took him to a quite room checked he had his CI set to W

and whispered very quietly " Would you like to go to the bike track? "

He had been complaining about the buzzing till he heard what I said

then he grinned all over his face. So was I. He was grinning cause

he could go to the bike track and I was grinning cause he heard me.

I explained to him how quietly I had said that to him and that if he

wanted to use the W setting sometimes it would work for him. I dont

think his dad would have heard what I said if I said it that quietly

and there is nothing wrong with his ears (except a bit of selective

hearing) We might make a bit of a game of it I think where I will

whisper something and see who gets it right. If yesterday is

anything to go by I think will blitz it

Way to go Kathy-- Smart way to outsmart !!! I remember what a rough time

you had getting him just getting him to concentrate on the N24C. I think you

would have to make a game out of this with him to get him to succeed. And of

course he has selective hearing-- Who doesnt? <GRINS>
