Guest guest
You all know that is very supportive of anyone who is seeking or has a cochlear implant. Recently, she was hurt by messages from another internet list and because she's moderated there, she has not able to defend herself. I have given her permission to post her response on CI Hear. This is a very, very unusual thing for me to do as I'm extremely protective of this list but in all fairness, she deserves the right to make her feelings known. For those of you who would prefer not to read this, please just delete. Unfortunately, the brand wars are very real and in some cases seem to bring out the worst in people, but not all thank goodness. We should be on the same page because we share something in common and that is the restoration of hearing. For some reason, there are individuals who assume that they know what you and I hear with our implants vs what they or their child hears with theirs and make a war out of it. It's impossible for them to do that and no two people are alike, no matter which implant they have. Success is not guaranteed by the brand but instead by the receiver of the implant, the surgeon who does the surgery and the audiologist who follows up and makes the most optimal sound and sometimes even the ear that is implanted. Not everyone reaps the same success and that is with all brands but for the most part we all have some element of success. Nastiness is not part of the implant procedure but it does seem that in some people - that is what is implanted. - please just send your response as a reply to this message. I'm very sorry that you have been treated so poorly. Alice
