Just goes to show you learn

Tell me about it! Today, at the hospital, I commented to my daughter that I

never knew the hospital be " this noisy " .

I heard a gurney come along LONG before I could see it, and knew it was that,

thinking this was my first time I ever heard it " live " , yet, I knew what I

was hearing. It's dawn on me, if you had hearing aid before, TV was only place

I heard that sound, and it hit me,,,,,, the sound effects on television do

make sounds be louder than it actually is..... also, I think I should thank the

CC too, as supplemental to what I have always heard via hearing aid.

Also another new sound I learned today was helicopter on ground DO NOT sound

like up in air! I was outside, taking a break in the nice breezy sun, sitting

on a bench in a little park on hospital ground, facing the lovely view of

Puget Sound. I heard this WEIRD sound, and suddenly, it was VERY WINDY,,,, what

little did I know, the helicopter pad was behind me and a medical helicopter

landed about 30 feet from me ... it amazing,,, you " think " one way, and never

thinking there are other sounds for same whatever.

Happy Hearing,,,,,,,,

Thanks to a friend of mine in New Zealand, I've heard the expression, " Good

on you " but " Bully on you " is a new one for me! Just goes to show you learn

something new every day. LOL!

Lee,

How true! During my evaluation, I brought my guide dog. I didn't even stop

to consider how the loud, high pitched tones would hurt her ears. Over the

years, I've forgotten how loud it can get in the sound booth. I don't have a

UCL, so even if the audi cranks 110 or 120 dB (depending on the limits of

the audiological equipment) into the testing headphones, it doesn't hurt.

You're also right about the TV amplifying sounds that one doesn't always

hear so well in real life. I once asked my mother why I could hear certain

sounds on TV but not in real life but she didn't have an answer.

,

That is easy. When they make movies or shows for TV, they plant

mics all over the place. And they probably engineer the sound tracks

for maximum impact. Well, you know you cannot ehar in space, which is

a vacuum but for some odd reason, you can hear the space ships roaring

or whooshing thru space. LOL.

I wish I had a Kryptonite cross, because then you could keep both

Dracula AND Superman away.
