,.

I cannot really answer your question, but when I experienced sudden

hearing loss. I wasn't treated with steroids until 2 months later when I

changed

otologists. I was then treated with oral prednisone and my hearing was

restored within a week or so. Howeevr, it did not last . Five months later my

hearing seemed to be deteriorating again and I was on and off steroids over the

next 6 months. Then I was suddenly totally deafened and the steroids no longer

helped.

Call your ENT because this is also individualized.. Mostly I have heard it

has to be soon.. before there is much damage to the nerve and haircells.. but

this is all hearsay.

Call your doc and ask!

,

I think this question can be best answered by a qualified ENT. I don't think we

know the answer.

Hi everyone

I have CI from the cochlear corporation implanted with the newest before FDA

approved (one of the 10th in US did a grant study with IOWA for 5 years) in the

year Dec 1996. Activated Jan 1997. I am now doing really well with the implant.

I just want you all to know that no matter what it will be very hard in the

begining. I recommend highly on get therapy, work with someone very close to

you, ask what is that noise? what was that?

Don't ever be afraid of the idea to ASK.

I was in Grad school when they put in my implant, later I got the 3G. Works

perfectly.

You will be so excited and please remember not to EXPECT so high from your

hearing!!!

One can hurt themselves with a great disppointment.

I am here if any one interested in my story or want some help.

It also comes from your positive thinking and that you have to be open mind to

the world of sounds.

Thanks

Pilar

Unless someone can provide their own experience, this would seem to be a

question for medical personnel.
