Guest guest Posted October 25, 2004 Report Posted October 25, 2004 Hi and Bandage removal and getting incision wet/washing hair... are different per surgeon and type of incision he does. I'd think closure of the incision would also be a factor as well. My surgeon told my husband and my friend, twin_sharon these exact words. " I know she's going to want to wash her hair tomorrow and that is fine, just make sure she does it gently and dries hair immediately and applies ointment.'' I had the small incision with my surgery and sutures sewn behind my ear were the same as a plastic surgeon uses for facial plastic surgery. All this varies with each surgeon, so please follow what surgeon tells you to do. I was very surprised these instructions were given to me post op, as I expected to not be able to wash my hair for several days. Do have to admit..it made me feel so much better to have clean hair so soon after the surgery. Before showering, I had to saturate a cotton ball with neosporin to place in my ear to block out water. Further instructions were to keep cotton in my ear with neosporin for several days and to change this several times a day as well. I had no pressue due to built up wax or anything else. I believe the neosporin trick in ear helped me tremendously because it kept my ear from being exposed to any polution and softened whatever debree might have accumulated during surgery. For all future implantees, this might be a question to ask your surgeon about and his/her thoughts on it. Good luck to everyone here at the forum !! Dixie Quote
