Guest guest
Hello, I have a question for the group about my Nucleus Contour 24 3- G. I had this for 13 months now and was remapped several weeks ago and everything went fine. But yesterday, I began to notice that sudden sounds causes some minor discomfort to me below the area of my transmitter coil. My Audi told me at my last mapping that I am on the Sensitivity program. My volume control is set at about 5 1/2 or 5 3/4 and I hear quite well at that level for two months now. I was wondering if anyone can relate to this? Could it be possible I am at a level too high and I am over doing it? I do appreciate the input and reading all of the posts almost everyday. Thanks..........Barry in PA. Guest guest
Barry, This sounds more to me like a magnet issue. Your skin flap may have gotten thinner which would require you to lessen the power of the magnet. Have you done this yet since you were activated? If not, I suspect this is the problem. Check with your audiologist on this if lowering the stength of the magnet does not eliminate the discomfort. Alice From: Barry Hello, I have a question for the group about my Nucleus Contour 24 3- G. Guest guest
---Dear Alice, Hello and thank you for your response. Not all of my recent post message appeared. My magnet strength (2 magnets) have never been changed and I kept my volume, since my last mapping two months ago, between 5 1/2 and 5 3/4. If I create a noise, like scrapping a pail across the floor, I feel the slight discomfort in the coil area. This only happens when a louder sound comes into play and I tried lifting up my coil by hand to create an air gap between the coil and my skin to see if this would be like removing a magnet, but the problem, although slight,is the same. So, you really suggest I remove one magnet for instance, and hope that my coil stays attached to my head. You don't thing anything serious is going on? Thanks..........Barry In , " Alice " <justagram@c...> wrote: > Barry, > > This sounds more to me like a magnet issue. Guest guest
Barry, It's possible that one or more electrodes are too high on the comfort level and you should contact your audiologist to see if together you can figure out the cause. I only saw part of your post too so I'd have thought as Alice did with the magnet. You may just need the comfort level of an electrode brought down a little. Hope you get it figured out. It doesn't sound serious to me, but I'm not the expert.<smile> anything of concern to you should be brought to your audi's attention. Keep us posted.
