Guest guest
Hi, I'm still trying to choose ci for my son. Our center doesn't offer medel ( said they r not sure it will be on the market in 20 years, (who knows, difference of opinions)), so we r choosing cochlea's or ab products. All people i met personally have nucleouses, happy with them. I read about both companies' products and i like couple features of nucleous more then hires auria. Researcher in our center mentioned though, that he thinks ab implant is more flexible. As i understood, he thinks, that newer processors more likely will match ab receivers , than cochlear's. So... final decision will be made after we talk more with audio and surgeon. Could u please, dear ab ci's users, tell me your opinion and share briefly your experiences, because even here i find much more info on nucleus. Well, the researcher agreed, that it's more popular. Thank u
Guest guest
We, like you, only had the two choices of implants-nucleus or clarion(AB). We did make the choice of Clarion for Annika. They were very comparable but we liked the new strategy with the Clarion and I liked having only 3 buttons to deal with on the BWP. Also our center does implant more Clarion vs Nucleus so went with the technology that they were the most used to working with. Don't get me wrong the first bilateral child that was done did choose the Nucleus and they do a great job with her. I just went with the experience because there wasn't, in my opinion, any factors that made me sway to the Nucleus. I have been very happy with AB and what they have been able to do for us and the support that they have given us through the whole process. I also spent a whole visit at the oral deaf school speaking to Annika's teacher about the differences she saw in the kids that they serve and then did contact a couple of the parents also. All the parents that I spoke to were very happy with the Clarion for their children and the one that I spoke to who had the Nucleus wasn't very happy at the moment with theirs(I don't remember at the moment the problem with it). This was just such a personal choice for me that I tend to stay away from trying to sway parents from one to another. I don't know if that helps or not but it is just my opinion. Guest guest
> Hi, > I'm still trying to choose ci for my son. > Thank u > Hi I have the new HiRes Auria. I am late deafened. I am very happy with my choice. I awake early in the morning to see what quality of life this little miracle will give me. I have the BTE with the T mic. I use it for everything, phone, noisy places, in the car conversations, TV, radio and I have been having success with music and still practicing. I don't change settings or handle wires. I put the bte on, I listen for the first 20-30 seconds as my auditory nerve gets the rise and shine wake up call. I can always count on my lovely wife to make noise or be talking while I adjust :-). I set my volume and the rest of the day I hardly touch it again, till it is time to remove the battery late at night to recharge it. The EL battery lasts more hours than I am awake. The three EL's and one slim battery sitting in the charger represents more than 4 days of hearing. There is a 12 volt car charger packed with it also, I left it in it's package to this point. I have no knowledge nor do I think I need it for all the SAS, CAS, Fast and what have you strategies. This little marvel just works, I let my professional team work with it. I can put my energy and practice to my profession. A few weeks back a gentleman posted about his Med El when some Med El info was needed. He hit the nail on the head saying us Med El users are happy and we are going about our busy life. I see AB bashing on here by a very few, it is too bad they don't get the concept that the other two brands made their brand better. It is the only reason why the three brands are coming out with new technology. If there was just one brand we would all be back in the stone age of CI's, there would be no incentive to change. Bashing competitive brands make me suspicious, and then I think maybe I should be looking at the competitve brand. They must be doing something right to get all this attention. You have to make your own choice, what ever it is most people here will support you after you have made your choice. I wait to hear how your son will be doing, it will effect all of us. Be safe and happy L in RI non CI volunteer, no pressure, no bashing, we are all in this together. Some of my best friends have the other two brands:-)
