Guest guest Posted May 22, 2004 Report Posted May 22, 2004 Jerome, I think and have given you the best advice. I don't know that you are really ready for a CI, in my opinion, you seem to have so many doubts. Actually, to many doubts at this point as we've kept up with your posts and they seem to hint to ''just not being ready for that major step.'' Try your trials with the aids. Hopefully, they will work for you and keep in mind, any new device...hearing aid or implant is going to be ''different'' at first as you get used to it. A good deal of your questions can't be answered by anyone but yourself. Your doubt ratio far outweighs your confidence in so many posts that is might be a good idea to just hold off on CI journey until you feel you have more confidence in your decision. I hope you'll get to that point one day and think a CI will be your best choice. Also, keep something in mind...you are not the only severe/profound at this group. We are all most likely severe/profound/deaf. That is why we qualify for an implant. Do more research, sit down with yourself and be your own judge on what you think is best for you. We can't answer your questions on your own personal level. Someone else might have the same type of loss and frequency loss, etc that you have...that does not mean a CI will work for both parties in the same way or that speech comprehension will come to both people identically. No two people are the same. I hope you will find faith in your own decision. Dixie Quote
