Use in recipes you might want to use cinamon with, but use very sparingly, it is pretty potent. I find it complements cinamon quite well, and can reduce cinamon a lot, accordingly. Any of the apple pie recipes that have been posted could use a dash of nutmeg here and there. That said, there are warnings at some health food places on use of nutmeg during pregnancy - not sure what that is all about...On 10/14/06,

It is considered a spice but many consider it an herb due to medicinal qualitites.. Don ask.... I don't know why..."Sharyn E. Before spices came to be called spices they were used as herbs or food.

All spices have, as they say, medicinal qualities that lend themselves

to the herb or spice or even food.
