Guest guest
I found the same theory last year, on http://www.clinical-depression.co.uk .... now, I was very happy with it for a while, and it may even contain some important truths. But maybe not. For instance, if a negative emotion can be eliminated often in a few minutes with EFT, then who cares about " processing " it, being it awake or in dreams? I now believe that dreams don't " process " emotions, they merely reflect them. I used a lot of time studying their courses, and got some gains from it. But then later I was back where I started. Guest guest
Thanks, Duncan! [One_EFT Healing Highrise] Depression and dreaming Hi guys, Haven't posted for a looong time now. I hope everyone is well. I thought i might post this link to an article by a guy here in the UK called Joe . He is one of several people developing a new approach tot he treatment of depression and other psychological issues here in the UK called the Human Givens approach. Anyway i seem to remember Craig mentioning in an article somewhere that depression was often the 'down' caused by many unresolved emotional issues. I thought this article may interest some of you. http://www.humangivens.com/joe-griffin/dreamcatcher.html Regards, Duncan

I have panic (very silly triggers) Diagnosed depression, and acute anxiety, all when things seemed to be going at there best? I cannot figure why I am here, and it truly is a tiring trip. Guest guest
Tania, One reason you are depressed is because you tell yourself you are, “Tired of myself”. Think about how you would feel if another person told you that. You would be sad. Think of yourself as two people. There is the parent type and the child type. Your parent lately has been very critical of the child type. Try to be more encouraging and supportive of your thoughts. I think it helps to think of your fears and other feelings as coming from a little girl inside. It is easier to be nice to a little girl than the adult we are. Picture that little girl. She is scared about something. You say these things are silly. She becomes sad. You can listen to her and mentally say supportive things to her. Tell her you love and accept her feelings and will take care of her. She will feel comforted and calm down. Look up EFT on the official website www.emofree.com download the free manual and do some of the tapping. You will find relief. Guest guest
Hi Tania, i'm glad that you found that article helpful. I have found many people with depression read that article and are so relieved to see the source of their problem. It makes so much sense it brings about a certain AHA! moment. The approach used to treat depression fast and effectively has been adopted by 'MIND' in hartlepool here in the UK. This is a primary care facility and their waiting list has reduced by three quarters and is turning the medical mode on its head. Exciting stuff. Its sound like you are having a tough time. I only recently got out a similar situation so i am reticent to offer personal assistance at this time. However, if you email me: duncno1@... i will be more than happy to point you in the direction of some resources that helped me. Some pointers to remember tho: Depression is something that happens to you. Its not you!!! in time as you come out of it you will realise this. You can get better i promise you. Although anyone who is depressed or anxious believes they won't get better that is part of the condition itself. It just takes a little time, the right approach and persistance. Find someone that can help. Someone who can answer you questions and knows what they are talking about. By this i mean somebosy who has been through what you have or has helped SUCCESSFULLY people in your situation. No one and i mean no one can truly understand the pain and despair of depression and anxiety unless they are extremely skillful and empathetic or they have been there themselves. Believe in yourself and your resources. They are there i promise you! However much of a hopeless situation you believe yourself to be in you are NOT helpless or hopeless. You have gems of personality, resource and humaity in you. Depression just TEMPORARILY puts them out of your own sight. I hope this helps a little. You can do it! Guest guest
Hi Duncan, and Carol, thanks for your helpful replies. I am actually a lot further on with the depression than my post portrayed. I am very fortunate to have the luxury of time to spend recovering, and have made great leaps of improvement. I would even go as far to say the depression is 90% lifted. All I need now is to work on some motivation. However, the anxiety and panic attacks (these are very new) make me despair sometimes. I get motivated to go out, have an attack, and come home devastated, although today I made great progress. I have met a wonderful lady on another group, who is a spiritual counsellor. She has been through it all, and we have made headway in pin pointing the triggers. It would seem to be when I get in a situation of feeling trapped i.e getting on the motorway, once on it is a long way before you can get off if necessary. I went out and did it today, and no problem. A huge weight off my shoulders! Well thanks guys for caring This is a nice group Take care Tania
Guest guest
[Edited by Moderator.] Dear Tania, This is a very powerful statement. I just joined and have been reading the postings. Yours really struck me. I am a reikist, and intutive life coach. Being an older gal, and notice the (er) on old (er), I can tell you that most people in their life feel what you are feeling at one time or another. But what led you here, to this moment is very important. There is no quick fix. There are sense-memories that are within each of us that are triggered from time to time, and it is a good thing to find out what those triggers are. Emotional upset and especially depression can be caused by many things, a chemical inbalance, a unhealed wound, a unresloved conflict or inner-child hurt. Only you can determine what these things are influenced by. There is a trintiy of energy, The Body, The Mind and The Soul, you can not successfully treat one without treating the other. And if on of these in not inalignment the others will be off. [..] Being a Reikist, I know how hard it is to reach out and have people reach back. The more resources you have, and the more you share, the more contact you make with people, things, and realtionships outside of yourself. This is a safe and informal way of doing that. It seems to me that you have already taken the first step to wellness in reach out here within the group. Cudos, good for you. Keep the process going. Guest guest
You forgt to mention that depression can also be caused by severe, long term, chronic physical pain & disablement. Which, like mine, can bring aching lonliness. Which, in turn, causes further, deeper depression, more sickness & physical pain.
