Guest guest
Hi Tad, This has been one of those 'big' questions for so long -- along with " which ear should I implant? " When I was implanted, the 3G was not yet out so I had to start with the BWP. I do think that having one of each is better. I have heard about many people who have actually preferred the BWP to the 3G because they find the BWP to be either clearer, orlouder, or stronger or whatever word they use. I personally like the sound of the 3G better and knew it right away. However, if I had started with only one type of processor, then I wouldn't know otherwise. Since the 3G is not an exact duplicate of the BWP, you have more choice as far as whether you end up having a preference for the sound. And ceratinly you also have the freedom to go wireless or not as you choose if you like the sound of both. At this point, I never use the BWP but I am glad I had it in the beginning because it allowed me a lot greater flexibility to change the sound to best fit my needs in any listening situation. I think the real difference between those two is the battery life and comfort of wearing them, bte or bwp. But being able to learn and listen as I get used to them, they both should both have the same results as far as hearing things. I do know the SPRint has more control over sounds as far as sensitivity levels. But I'm just looking to see if they both will output the same sounds while just having the option to chose which device will be easiest for me to use for different scenarios. Look forward to hearing your inputs. Tad Green
Guest guest
I think the decision about getting one of each processor or two of either type is a difficult one for most so I'm not surprised to see you bring up this discussion. Each processor has it's own individual value. The Sprint offers 4 programs and lots of easy access options you can work to optimize your hearing in any given situation. Some people find it uncomfortable because of the wires, but men have less of a problem with this than women. I never found that it was a problem as I just wanted whatever would give me hearing. I personally like the fact that you can use rechargables with it if you wish but it also takes regular disposable AA batteries as well. I have no problem wearing it at all and like to use it when I'm at home. The 3G is a wonderful processor. It's convenient, small, works extremely well in just about all situations, is easy to change batteries and hearing needs. The telecoil is fabulous and use it very often but not for the phone. I use the telecoil for looped areas and it can be used with attachments and ALD's. The batteries are easily found in an emergency at Walmart or the grocery store as you can use regular high powered zinc air batteries but the ones offered by Cochlear are less expensive and easy to get. Since the 3G gives you 2 programs, most of us usually settle on one that we prefer. I use them both and love them both. The main thing is that they give me hearing. Without them - I have none. The decision on which to purchase is really an individual one. If you don't think you would like wires, you'd probably prefer the 3G as the Sprint may end up in your draw unused but if you don't mind wires.. having one of each is a great idea. Guest guest
Hi Tad: I use both the BTE and BWP. To me the BWP seems to bring in slightly more sound so I use it at work and places where hearing is crucial. Other people like the sound on the BTE better. When I get home and can relax I switch to the BTE. The BWP also has some software options not available on the BTE--ARDO? Hal
